Key words from postings

TDR Publication

Saw them when I was on a TDR page, and wasn't logged in. I had clicked on a link posted in a thread I was reading, and it lead to another thread here. The ads popped up to the left.

At the bottom of the google ads, a box was below them that said-

If you don't wish to see these ads, that is one of the many benefits of TDR membership. To receive a free copy of the TDR magazine and find out more information about membership benefits click HERE.

Never encountered them here before. Wasn't sure what was up with that.

I added those this week. They are only there for non-members. They are targeted ads based on the content on the page. It's another way for us to entice people to join rather than just lurk. We have a 4 to 1 guest to member ratio and we're trying a number of things to improve that.

They also generate a small amount of income which we are going to specifically earmark to provide additional features for the membership.

Googledy Boogledy

Personally, Google is starting to REALLY annoy me. They have been my favorite search engine for years. Partly because they originated using Linux - yep, I'm biased. Anyway, nowadays a search typically brings up pages of phony links to snake oil salesmen and hawksters.

Any suggestions on a clean search engine? Jonsing for the old Google.

Ah, OK. Wasn't sure. I remember hackers having a little fun before. I would have to agree with OTD about the phony links and stuff of the like.
