Drop chains for lifted trucks?

I'm looking at a new 5th wheel..... I've taken the hitch from my old 5th wheel and made an adapter and have used it to connect to the goose neck hitch that's rated at 30,000 lbs in each of my trucks... . When I sell this trailer it will either have the goose neck adapter on it... or the stock 5th wheel style hitch back in place... .

This new trailer is really nice... and I'm not really interested in making that kind of change... . so what I'm looking for is one of those adapters that sits in the bed of the truck... . and fastens where my drop in ball comes out of my goose neck hitch... .

And if the brand of goose neck hitch that I used... doesn't have just what I need... I think I'll build one.....

What I'm looking for from this group... . has anyone used this kind of adapter... if it attaches to the spot in the bed were the ball drops into... . I'm sure it has some feet that spread some of the weight around... tell me how yours works... and if you'd do it again.....

And if you have some time... . maybe a photo or 2 of the adapter as it sits in the bed... . or on the ground...

And I'd love to hear from you with photos at my email address of -- email address removed --

Thanks

My old 5er came with the standard hitch... . I changed it... . and took care of the frame... so I know its safe... I have an engineer in the family... . and can change it back when I sell it...

But I do have the B&W and yes that's exactly what I'm looking at... . for my new trailer... I'm looking for someone who's tried this set up... seems to me... that it might rock around inside the bed..... and I'd want it with rubber snubbers I think... .

Anyway... . looking for input... to see if any of you have any issues with it..... the trailer weighs about 13K lbs... .

Thanks... Jim

FWIW, I use the B&W and Companion setup. Our fifth wheel is a hair under 14,000 when loaded to the gills. It (the 5er) does have a Trail Air pin box and centerpoint suspension, but I have heve had any sensation of rocking with the hitch. I make sure to install it correctly (follow the sequence correctly) I also have a Line-X'd bed, so that may make a difference. Anyway, I think it's a good hitch, and would recommend it again.

There are lots of satisfied users of the B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch out there - many of them on this forum.

I am currently using a gooseneck adapter on my 5ver. I am careful with it and haven't had any problems with the frame. That being said, I do intend to purchase the Companion to go with my B&W.
