Pullrite hitch - Buy from Big Discount RV?

I'm looking at a Wells Cargo 32' overall length enclosed gooseneck trailer. I couldn't take a lot of measurements when I looked at it, because it was -5 degrees, and windy. From the bottom of the overhang to the ground was 56 1/2". The bottom of the pin to the ground was 28". The pin is adjustable with removing a bolt, but didn't have time to see how much height was left.

The guys from the Wells Cargo main office said that you should have 6-8" above the bed rails. If this is true, I'd need a rail height of 48-50". Are they blowing smoke, or will this trailer not work for me?

Thanks

Paul

I failed to mention that this trailer has not been used, but has sat at different locations in northern WI. It also has an AC and heater. Best of all the $$$$ is right.

Well I just happen to have my trusty Wells Cargo trailer dimension workbook, I am taking the data from a AWGA3225. That is there 32' Auto Wagon enclosed two axle goose neck hauler. Level trailer has 56" from ground to bottom of kick-up. At that height (level) the coupler will adjust from 32" to 38". You will be able to use the trailer, but you most likely will have to adjust the hitch all the way out. This will gain you the bed clearance (also 6-8" is a good figure to go by) you need, but the trailer will be a tad noise high. I pull a 36' tri-axle goose neck, and had them build me a high kick-up to solve or at least help the problem. Best thing to do would be hitch it up, and see for yourself how it rides. It wont hurt to be a couple inches high, almost every one with a Dodge and a Goose neck are. It's just preferred to be level.

6"-8" clearance over the rails is about right. From your measurements it sounds like the nose of the trailer was very low. 28" pin to the ground? Either it was sitting nose low or they were towing it with some kind of midget truck. Sounds like you have 28. 5" from the pin to the neck right now so if it's adjustable as you said it is you should be fine. If you back under it you'll be able to tell real quick whether or not it will work for you but my bet is that it will. ;)

If y-knot's numbers are right you must have meant to say 38". That sounds better to me. Should work for you but like he said, give it a try.

I have a 32ft pace enclosed toy hauler and had it custom made 6" higher roof and 6" higher overhang to fit over my truck.

Just a word of caution If the trailer you are looking at has dexter rubber torsion axles you have to tow them level to keep even weight on both tires ( tandem ) .
