It is time to upgrade my hitches. The question is to those of you that have both gooseneck and 5th wheel. What systems are you using? And Pro & Con

Thanx, Tom

I prefer a GN, easier to remove/hide when you want to use the bed.

A 5th wheel is easier to back into and will spread the weight a over a greater area, which shouldn't really matter unless you've got way too much weight on the truck.

Thanx Bill

What I need to know is about being set up for both. I would just prefer the gooseneck myself. It looks like I am going to be pulling a bunch of different trailers of all types.

I have the Reese rails in the truck. They stay there all the time. I can switch hitches as to which trailer I want to pull. The gooseneck or the 5er by just undoing the pins and re-installing. Some people don't like the hassle but this works for me.

Come on Rusty, tell him about the Turnoverball or what ever it's called.

OK, here's a typical thread discussing the B&W Turnoverball GN hitch. LINK

If you check their website HERE, you can see the gooseneck and companion RV (5th wheel) hitch.

I like the Atwood folding gooseneck better. You can raise/lower it without grabbing a greasy ball to turn it over.

I also have the Reese rails and I swap back and forth between

a 14K 5er head for my 5th wheel and a homeade plate with a

2 5/16 ball that I duplicated the feet that pin into the rails, for

my gooseneck. Works great. Now I am just hoping to put

my these rails out of my '02 into my '03.
