I have a 40' gooseneck that I have been considering converting to a fifth-wheel. On the neck of the trailer, the portion that accepts the ball can un-bolt and slide out and be removed allowing for the use of another type of hitch. Does a company make a fifth wheel conversion? Something that would slide into that spot? Those of you that have had a gooseneck and converted or switched to a fifthwheel did you notice a ride difference or stabilty difference? I am talking about flatbed trailers not recreational trailers. 40' trailer empty going 70 mph down the interstate can get pretty jumpy and therefore transfer that movement to the truck. What I am looking is called a Inverted fifth wheel or an upside down fifth wheel. Where the kingpin replaces the ball in the bed of the truck and the actual fifth wheel is on the trailer.
