I'm looking for a new gooseneck flatbed trailer and would welcome any recommendations on brands. Anyone have a Kauffman or Brute? Thanks

Chris

I have a 25' flatbed gooseneck from GatorMade trailers out of Ky. I use it for hauling hay and an occasional tractor. It's rated at 20klbs. Dual wheel, Dual axle. A really well made trailer, outstanding brakes, oil bath axles, near perfect weld joints, all sealed wiring. Owned it 4 years and still impressed. Should last me a lifetime.

I have a 10 ton pintle hitch Kaufman bought new. Its a really solid trailer, the paint just fades. Kaufman was the cheapest manufacturer, but the paint and possibly the tires are the only 2 things that could be upgraded. They do make some cheaper models, enrty level type deals that aren't too nice. but overall I think they're good. I also have a 7 ton deckover goose from Delta. I have nothing bad to say about Delta except the cheap tires they come with.

7 years ago I bought a Hilsboro 700 series tandem dual GN trailer. Best purchase ever for me. The engeneering on some of the trailers works like this. If the frame bends lets make it heavier. This is very inefficent for towing applications. I have to say Hilsboro really did homework on the design of the structure. I have loaded (on occasion) far over max gvw and never had a bend, tweak or groan. Hillsboro Industries - 700 Series Tandem Dual Trailers

I have a '02 23 ft McElrath 16k trailer with 2 8k torqflex axles. I can't imagine a better trailer: picture perfect welds, enclosed wiring (havn't even had to replace a bulb), hub caps havn't rusted, side turn signal running lights, loading lights, mud flaps. One of the two right side lift assist springs broke last year, so when I was in Spartanburg, SC last fall, I went by to get a new one. Owner Rick Connor said it should not have broken and gave me a new one. Go by his website (mcelrath trailers.com). Even if you don't buy one, you might get an idea that will help you make a good decision. Mark

I have loved my Great Northern Trailers that are made in here in Oregon and sold in the NW. I have also liked Big Tex Trailers too. I have a PJ 14K dump trailer that I'd say the paint job sucked on and it's very rusted up. Much more then other trailers of similiar age.

I have worked for a company that sells big tex and a couple of other brands. I have hualled from all of these factories and up till a year ago I would have told you that big tex was the best and worth the premium that they charge, but a year ago I became aquainted with a company called Rice Trailers out of Naylor Mo. They make every bit as good of a trailer as big tex with our the price premium that big tex has. They will also build anything custom you want. Is their factory as big and nice as big tex no, but it also isn't your cousin billy's farm shop either.

I have had two PJ trailers now and both have been good quality. I have not had any problems to date with the powder coat on them or any issues outside of corrosion on the pig tail connector which was an easy fix.
