I know B&W's are awesome hitches. Loved the last one i had but i'm not to fond of the $400 price tag. Is there anywhere to get one any cheaper or do any other companies make one that is as good for less money?

I use the Draw-Tite gooseneck hitch with the removable ball. When ball is removed, hitch is flush with surface of bed. I have used them since 98 and never had a problem. I have no idea of the cost today.

Having worked on trucks, tractor trailers, and farm equipment all my life, fabricated countless hitches, beds, bumpers, etc, I'm gonna say the B&W is the way to go. For materials, ease of installation, and overall quality, they are hard to beat. The price of materials is so high these days, unless you fab your own hitch and weld it up yourself, you're not gonna save any money, and even then you're only going to save $100, maybe. I install the B&W in my shop, and I charge more than $400 for them.

I have had my B&W since 2003, and I have to say that I would not buy anything else at any price. . unless could get another B&W for less. . lol

so let's get this right- you spend upwards of $45,000 on a truck, but are too cheap to spend $400 on a QUALITY, AMERICAN MADE product?? all I will tell you, is go your route, but remember one thing: you get what you pay for.

$400 is a fair price for a gooseneck hitch, not sure what you would expect for less. Certainly nothing of quality. As others have said, stick with the B&W, it's money well spent.

I don't see the big attraction to the B&W.
An Atwood folding ball does the same job easier (can raise/lower with just a fingertip) and cheaper. For about the same money a Curt quick goose can be raised/lowered without climbing in the bed or touching the ball.

I think people are responding to "cheap" more than brand. That Atwood looks nice as long as it is designed to do the job and has a good reputation.

I have been installing UniGoose hitches in customers trucks, excellent hitch and STRONG. There is no hinky flip lever to rust up just a simple coupler for the ball. . Just personal preference.

For us:

1. Availability of Companion 5th Wheel Hitch to use with B&W gooseneck.

2. Clean bed floor when not in use.

3. Never a problem with the gooseneck or 5th wheel hitch, and I'm still using the Companion 5th Wheel hitch I purchased in 2001 for my 2002 Ram.

4. Unexcelled product support and customer service.

They've earned my business.
