Is this a good alarm?

How much turning radius is lost with the short bed? Our gooseneck horse trailer isn't set back like a camper, it drops straight down from the from of the trailer, and I'm concerned with my wife trying to maneuver around in places that she probably shouldn't. Thanks for the feedback, love the site.

I think it is the same as a short bed quadcab. The mega cab is on the long bed chasis, if i'm not mistaken.

It depends on the width of the trailer nose. My trailer is a full 8 feet wide, but the nose tapers to 6 feet (approx). I have no problem turning tighter than I probably should without popping off a hub and scrubbing tires. If your trailer has a full width nose, you might have a problem. #ad
Sorry, but I don't have a picture pulling this with the new megacab.

I saw a ford short box double cab yesterday with a float gooseneck in tow. It looked like he could easily have problems with the back corners of the bed meeting the gooseneck on the trailer as the trailer was closer to the rear of the truck than on a long box. I have seen a couple of Dodge MC duallys towing and did not pay enough attention to comment.

I tow a 24' flatbed gooseneck with my MegaCab and don't have any issues with turning radius. I came close to a couple hits on the tailgate when the nose end of the truck dropped down like exiting or entering to a gas station for instance but it never hit. I am sure you'll be fine and it should not hit anything.

I have a customer with a MC dually that pulls his excavator and has no issues. Like posted, the width of the nose is the biggest limiting factor.

I'm not sure where to find one, but i talked to a guy a couple weeks ago that said he saw an offset hitch. The receiver that slid into the trailer was offset forward making towing with a shortbox no-problem. It was not "homemade".

Like I said, I have no idea where to find one, but such a thing does exist somewhere. Don't know if I'd trust it to 30K, but I think he said it was on a 24' stock trailer.

:-laf :-laf :-laf I usually don't look at links unless there's a description with it. I would assume that's the unit I was talking about. :D :-laf :-laf

Pulled 30' horse trailer and a 40' flatbed goosenecks with my MC, no problems turning. I have a B&W goose neck turn over ball hitch that a buddy and myself installed in about 1 1/2 hrs. If you are worried about hitting the cab B&W sells an offset ball for the turn over ball hitch as well. .

check out the superglide hitch by Pullrite- I have one I'd sell with hardly any use. Automatic slider hitch slides in the corners on a stout cam action- easy to put a 5er stinger in your GN female stinger.

I know it's not a horse trailer but I finally got some pics with my gooseneck set-up. Hope this helps for some reference. I am running "The Diamond Hitch" gooseneck hitch and haven't had any issues turning or even coming close to hitting the tailgate. :D

I believe the biggest problem would be with a gooseneck trailer like I have (see pics). It is 8 feet across and square in the front. Having 8 feet width right at the front of the pivot point is significantly different from a rounded, angled, V-shaped front.

With the longbed, I can go 90° easily, even clearing my stake mount CB antennas. I bought the trailer second hand because the first owner had the trailer one week before he put a dent in the cab of his shortbed truck. I saved thousands on a 200 mile trailer.
