Where to get the best deal on a HX40 cartridge?

oil sample place

Well I got my new turbo, from City Diesel, today and installed it this afternoon. All went well and i had no major hold up besides the waste gate but that is a different story. This turbo has the Compressor side of a HX40 but is made to bolt up to a HX35 exhaust housing. I decided on this turbo for 3 reason.

1. I did this turbo so i would not have to keep selling everything that i have bought previously like my exhaust brake.

2. The second reason is that it was far cheaper than a HX40 in and it spool just as quick as my HX35.

3. The last reason is that i am planning on adding a PDR cam. I know that the Dodgezilla might not help as much as a Full HX40 for cooling purposes but i know the cam will make up for. From what i have read in other post people have tried both and have seen little difference. I will not be able to tell you difference but i will tell what i am seeing.

So far my first impression is excellent. While idling you can here the turbo through the exhaust. When you are driving down the road it is loud. I am guessing that it does not have a silencer ring in it. When you get on it going down the road it is loud and sound great. Have not had enough time to test it as far as temperatures. I am working on adjusting my waste gate because it is set for 37psi now and Tim said could safely run it at 45psi.

The dodgezilla is available with 12 or 14 wastegated housings or 12,14,16,18. 5 non wastegated housings.

The Dodgezilla has a much larger compressor side (largest HX40 housing made), exhaust side is the same. You get the spool up of a HX35 with the boost of a HX40.

Could you expand on that a little, I am in the market for a bigger turbo and trying to decide which way to go here. What all is the same? Thanks

For those of you running the Dodgezilla what other mods do you have and how well is it working? And what is your altitude? How much boost? Thanks..... :D

Actually thats not even close to true. There is a good reason the PDR HX-35 is rated to 350hp and the Dodgezilla is good to 450hp. They are two different turbos designed to work in two different powerbands, both do a good job for what they are designed for. The compressor wheel and housings and other parts are totally different on both turbos. A better comparision would be the Dodgezilla to the PDR HX-40. The Dodgezilla is built in house including the CNC work, nothing is farmed out.

thanks
