ok i bought a new truck last month a 2001 cummins 6 speed i got a drag comp i USUALLY run on level 3 had it about 3 weeks started having trouble starting took it to the shop they tell me maybe its the lift pump... a little while later they say that my lift pump is on my fuel tank and they say its not the lift pump its the injection pump..... so 2days laterwont start at all bought a new injection pump put it on runs great but i dont want to have to do that again cost a lot haha so i talk to couple of diesel shops about puttin a aux lift pump on there or a fuel system they tell me i can cause my pump is in the fuel tank ... so is there any thing i can do or do i got to get it put back on the side of the motor then buy a pump????thanks 4 any input seth collins

was the lift pump moved to the tank by previous owner, under warranty etc? (2001 did not have intank pump initially, it was an "upgrade" to repeated failures of the engine mounted lift pump. Many are not satisfied when the pump is moved to the tank). If it is in the tank you can by pass it with a new fuel draw tube to the new lift pump, but I dont think that you can actually draw fuel through the in tank pump.

Others will beable to give more info on the intank pump. I never had mine replaced with the intank, had 4 of the stock ones go out though, which took out my injection pump. I went to a FASS 2 years and 30k miles ago and have not had any problems.

Was the Drag comp a new addition to this truck? Sometimes boxes that tap the pump wire can fry the pump in short order if it is on the weak side to begin with.

Do you know what your fuel pressure is currently and prior to getting the injection pump crapping out?

Is this the truck in your signature line? If so looks to be hopped up pretty good, may just be the nature of the beast when u are sled pullin'

You should beable to find enough reading here on fuel systems/upgrades to let you read straight through 2008!

Hope this helps,

J-
