Are there low pressure TPIS warnings on a 3500?

Well the dreaded DEF problem. Had the check engine light come on the person that checked it for me said it was reductant pressure to high. Just before this started I had put some def fluid in the truck that I had for a while, I checked it wit a refracto meter and it look ok to use. But with all that said They cleared the code and after a short time it came back. And that's all it has done I've put about 60 miles on the truck since the code app eared the first time. I have seen no other warnings other than the check engine light any if would be helpful. Thanks

When you stored it, had you previously broken the seal? I notice with diesel additive, if I store it in the bed of the truck, sometimes the best from the sun will break the seal and in a few cases even blow the top off the bottle.

So I am wondering out of curiosity if the seal on the opening of the bottle was broken by you or even by the conditions it was stored in?

Edit:. I think there is a different code for reductant quality, so maybe the DEF quality wasn't the problem...., Unless there is crystalized def in the line somewhere. That's why I occasionally at some deionized H2O as a preventative. But I don't go crazy adding water like some do

Most likely Either a restriction in the system or a pump issue or plugged filter which I think is in the pump. You can pull the DEF injector and look for pluggage. Clean the tip with an old tooth brush and water. Also look into the exhaust where the injector mounts to make sure there isn't build up. It will look white and crusty.

Aside from that I think you will need someone with witech capabilities to better diagnose it.

The seal on the def was not broken till I put it in the tank. I do have a diesel mechanic that will looking at it. I just wanted to run it by some of the people on here.
Thanks Tony

With it being a 2014, I'm sure you have lots of miles on it, porbably a good time to clean the entire DEF system anyway, just not at the opportune time.

Ony about 40K I'm retired, so most of the miles are on the road pullig our 5th wheel. This is the first time I've had any issues with def fluid. So a clogged nozzel seems likely. What would have to be done to clean the entire system, and can it be dome with a safe additive?
Thanks Tony

Just add deionized Water, up to 50%.
That will dissolve crystals.

But like mentioned above, you should check the system with wiTech as they can run some system tests that a simple scanner can not.

I do not recommend working around that sophisticated system without a proper diagnostic of it in front.

How would I go about finding wiTech in my area Washington IL? And would that just be a dealer? Do I need to have some of the def out of the tank to put the deionized water in it?

No it hasn't given the the limp mode. So mist likely it's a nozzel. As I said I have a diesel mechanic looking at it I'm just waiting to get it into them hopefully next week. We were planning on going some where at the end of the month.

The couple times I got a DEF warning they did clean the nozzle. No more issues since the SCR recall. Has your 2014 had that recall done .

Yes wiTech is dealer only.
You can just fill up with the deionized water if there is space in the tank.
Otherwise drain some DEF.

I don't know I will have to check on that.

The reason I ask is, they do some software update when doing the recall, and in my case I think it changes how the system check works. In my case the DEF system was just glitchy, never anything wrong, nor did I have bad DEF in the tank . I doubt you have bad DEF , especially since you checked it .

I wouldn't be dumping anything in there until it gets checked , or drain ,and refill with fresh DEF

As far as I know, your dealer is the only option in the Peoria area for witech. I only used them once, but had what i consider good service at Sam Leman on Pioneer Pkwy in Peoria. They did the service i requested, but also lubed my front drive shaft without me asking. I've never had a dealer find they didn't spend the full hour of labor doing something and do something i never asked for just for the heck of it and to get closer to that hour of labor i was paying for. I never used any dealers in Morton or Washington.

One thing you might consider in your trouble shooting is that sometimes the DEF and NOx system diagnostics will not do an error check UNTIL you add def. Another thing you might consider is that the error code and CEL/MIL might not actually be showing a problem , but might just be showing an erroneous HARD code that your portable code checker couldn't clear.

I would take it to the dealer before adding any water. You never want to take it to the dealer AFTER adding water.

When I look at the info on that recall S87 it says for 2500 Ram with 6.7. Mine is a 3500 6.7 so acording to this mine wasn't involved in S87. And I don't see it on my recoreds on my owners account.
Thanks Tony
