Picked up my 3500 dualie, 6 spd HO today. I got dealer to instal jake brake for $840 his cost minus a $500 rebate and I got the 0% financing. Also got the truck at cost-$7000 under sticker.

Impressions- much quieter inside than my 96 or 99. Smooth manual shifter. Seats are not as comfortable as the 96 or even my 99. Seat bottom appears to be about 3-4 inchs shorter than my other ones. Steering is twitchy and rear end appears (2wd) jacked up like a dragster. The truck came with front and rear fender liners (plastic). Cup holders are a waste-too small. Only put 50 miles on it today. Overall I like it. :D

The "twitchy" steering you feel is probably due to the rack and pinion steering. Give it a week or so and you will think it is the best handling truck you have driven. Initially I was oversteering because the new truck was far more responsive to steering inputs than my old one. I also would have preferred that the truck sit more level than it does. Apart from putting a couple thousand pounds in the bed, I am not sure what can be done about it. Best truck I have ever owned otherwise. Enjoy.

That is a great deal that you put together there. Those of us that "had to have one now" had to pay more. But I'm not complainin', 11,000 miles and still:D :D :D :D

hey Bill when i was checking out your truck yesterday i found your electric brake controller wiring under the back seat so i put it in the console up front. and yes the wet spot on the truck was drool from me. awesome truck now you need to lift the front to level it.

not sure if they make 'em for '03's+ yet, but Velvet ride shavckles will help smoothn out the ride, won't effect load capacity, and will lower the rear about 1 inch. .

Hope this helps.

The ride is fine and I really don't want to lower the back. I wouldn't mind lifting the front and inch or two but not sure how that would be done or if it it even worth the trouble.

Read the owners manual-mistakes I see. The service intervals in the owners manual are different than in the maintenance book. Yes I am looking at level two maintenance. Example-in the owners manual-level 2 oil change all models at 3750 and every 3750 thereafter. In the maintenance book only the california model gets changed every 3750 miles. It would be nice if they tell you where the heated mirror switch is in the mirror section. Found out where it was in the ac section.
