I took the 95 in to have the dowel pin repaired and tthey steam clean the engine front seal kit 37. 84,new V belt 60. 44, gear gasket colver 28. 12 total parts was 126. 40 and labor was 509. 60,tax was 38. 50 total680. 21. I am glad it done the pin was 1/4 the way out and the V belt was cracked very bad. They also adjusted the valves in that job. I know you think that high but the job is done and I feel better now. I got a trip to Knoxville, Tenn. next week and plan on going to Florida in Feb. #@$%!

That labor charge sure makes me glad I am able to do most of my own repairs. The up side is it cost less than the repairs if the pin had dropped out.

You really could have saved some money and learned alot about your engine if you had done it yourself, however, it ain't for everybody... ... . the main thing is that you took care of it before it got spendy. You got me thinking about my 12 valve down in Dallas... ... . I gotta neuter that KDP in mine before it bites me while I'm hauling hay for my sister.

It done and I don't half to worry about it

Yes it a bit costly but I wanted it done and forget about. I change my own oil and filter on my cummins but that as far as I have gone. It cold in the garage where the Motor Home is and I don't want to work in the cold if I don't half to. It a good way for some of you to make a buck that have a place to work on the trucks. I am just glad it fixed and I can drive down the road and not worry about it.

One of the members sent me the tab for the job

Cummins said there fix is to pin it and I gave them the tab to put on also. I also let them use the issue 57 that has the article about the problem and how to fix it. They though the article was great. The tab would be easy to make. At least the problem is fixed. I feel better now. :-lafNow I can play with my toys. Here a picture of my 39 that I just put skirts on,made a lady out of her.

That is very nice. A friend of mine in '58 had a '39 convertable like that one. Except his was not nearly as nice and it had a Crysler Hemi in it.
