Ok, so I have been looking for a decent looking STEEL hood for my truck with not much luck. The only thing I could find was a cowl induction type but I really didn't want that because its more of a Chevy thing to me. I wanted something more "DODGE" if ya know what I mean. I also wanted it to be functional, with a real air intake to the engine compartment.

I ended up buying a factory "Hemi" hood scoop for a 3rd gen truck. I cut a decent sized hole in my hood (that was scary) and welded the steel factory hood scoop to my hood. It warped up along the welds pretty badly and I thought my hood was toast...

I took it to my good friends at Placerville Body Shop and had them work their magic on it. It came out great! I LOVE the way it looks, it lets cold air into the engine compartment and its more of a Dodge style of hood. It looks like the hood was built that way cause it came out so smooth.

Anyways, thought I would share :D

good job--does it come with the cold air parts or is it just open??

I've been on the bubble for 4 or maybe 5 yrs--even had a cowl induction hood at the paint shop, but I never really liked it so I sold it--I keep looking at hood scoops and think about it--I may just have to bite the bullet and do something..... chris

It didn't come with anything, its a factory hemi scoop. On the hemi trucks, it is not functional. They do nothing but look cool. I cut out the center part of the plastic fake grill that came with it to open it and still have a clean trim piece around the opening.

ASTAR, Just wanted to say that your truck is one of my favorites on the TDR! Dude, that thing is awesome, and you keep adding cool stuff to it. Keep it up! :D

Excellent job. I believe the hood goes very well with the "Theme" of the truck!!!!! I hate to see trucks with this big expensive hood on it and stock wheels, or something of the like. I believe the hood "Finished" off the truck.

Eventhough the pictures arent large, and detailed, it looks like the workmanship is excellent!!!

Enjoy!!

This looks great!!! Do you have the part number for the "Hemi hood scoop" the local dealer just looked at me like I was crazy... He could not find just the hood scoop. .

Thanks for any info on the scoop.

Adam

I don't have the part number but it should be simple for your dealer to find it. Maybe try a different dealer. Make sure to tell him it's for a 3rd gen truck, not 2nd gen.

Good luck

Wow!!!! That looks GREAT!!!! Mean and beefy! Love it!

I've been looking at the SRT-10 hoods, but there's so much else I want to do!!! I keep telling myself in time... . LOL!

I had a business trip a few years ago to Auburn... We drove around in the afternoons. It's beautiful country out there. I think we ate somewhere in Placerville. Sounds familiar. We ate in Auburn and was fed dandelions in our salads. That was funny -- the Arkansas redneck telling the vendors that we kill these b/c their weeds and ya'll are eating them out here!! LMAO! Just had to share that...

I'd like to go back sometime. I did manage to get the husband to Tahoe back in April. That, I believe, is the most beautiful place in the world! LOL
