05' Exhaust and transmission Question

Real power through G56

I picked up my 05 3500 SRW 4x4 with the G56 in it this weekend. When I got to the dealership I had asked the extra quart of transmission fluid had been added to the transmission, salesman said that my transmission “according to the VIN was not included in the recall that needed the extra quart of oil. ” Has anyone heard of this being correct? Did some of them come from the factory with the proper amount of oil? I drove the truck home which is 200 miles with no problems. So either the salesman was correct or I just got lucky. The more miles that I drove the better the transmission shift, no real complaints about the truck so far, but only time will tell.

I will jump on this one. I have been driving a G56 for a couple of days (400miles) and love the shifting so far. I had a NV5600 in my 2000 dually and also got the chance to drive a 05 truck with the 5600 still on a dealers lot. The G56 seems to be a more positive shift and the clutch comes in very smooth. I have will have to get used to the . 79 overdrive. The engine turns 2200 at 70. This truck will need to have at least 33" tires to bring the RPM's down a little.

I have only driven the truck 200 miles, and have no complaints with the transmission. My 01 has the 5600 transmission, but I think that the stock G56 shifts better than the stock 5600. I also have to agree that it is going to take some time to get used to the 2200 rpm's at 70. I will keep you posted as the miles are clocked on the new truck.

Given that they only started delivering G56's about a month ago, aren't they all the early ones? And since they were all on hold, they pretty much all got delivered at the same time.

This is sort of like the quotes:

Not true, as many were sold before the hold even existed.

Check the fluid. If it's a quart low, you have the early one. :-laf

(Just kidding. Sometimes I can't help myself. )

Sometimes a guy just doesn't know how he's going to make it through the day without a little help from his friends. :)

And besides I must be an early one too, I've always been told I was a quart short.

I wish you all good luck with these gear boxes. When I called Blumenthauls to check on a new NV5600 today, he told me they are not holding up well at all. But then my 5600 didn't either.

G56

I also just got my new 2005 and it has the G56 in it and I also like it very well and the clutch is very smooth. But, I wanted say that my truck was built complete w/ inspection in four weeks and I waited for 2. 5 months because I was told they were holding all 05's w/ the G56 in them because they were not finished with the testing on them and maybe it had to do with the transmission oil too but I really don't know what to think other than what the dealer told me and wait a hell of a deal I got for waiting that long.
