Turbo Spoolup is VERY much improved, I can't believe how much difference it made. I'd say cruising temperature is 100-150 degrees cooler.

It takes a LOT longer to hit 1600 on a WOT run from a dead stop.

This thing darn near spools as good as stock, I am very surprisesd. It flat out gets up and GOES! Black smoke is decreased from a dead stop and the charger just flat out SPOOLS. If I can get a boost gauge video I'll post it up.

All around throttle response and acceleration is more crisp, and the power gain is awesome. Truck is much more enjoyable to drive in town with the big charger.

Here is a video I shot: (Closed course professional driver)

Yes, my truck is dirty. . Too busy working on it getting ready for Houston to CLEAN it. .

All in all WELL worth the money, great upgrade!!

Hmmm. .

Ok,I have a question... .

1-Why do you say it has improved throttle response over the factory unit, when its plain to see how much yours was restricting airflow due to the filth all over it and in it?.

Shows us from a dead stop,at an idle, the huge improvement in faster spool up instead of a flying start from 55mph... ... ... ... Andy

Just a thought here, but in every post that you have made lately you have nothing good to say and you always look for the bad in things. :-{} Clean the sand out man.

One would assume that with more cooling rows, and a thicker, more efficient bar and plate core, better flowing end tanks, that it isn't out of the realm of possibility. I tested one on my FORD (yes, Furd) and they work as Garrett described.

I didnt see any filth on the inside of his CAC. All the crap on the outside shouldnt mean anything as far as decrease in throttle response goes. All that would mean is a less efficient CAC, resulting in higher charge air temps. It would effect the density ratio somewhat, but I doubt you would notice a dramatic difference, seat of the pants wise.

I wonder if the internal volume of the spearco is slightly smaller or what? Thats about the only way I can see a noticeable increase in response and decrease in lag time happening.

Maybe it just flows that much better? wonder how much difference there is in pressure drop across the CAC??

Where can you get one of these at?

--Jeff

I would think this would be an added benefit, but I would prefer to have a CAM!! Unless these are just way cheaper than a cam. It didn't look that dirty to me. The only place I saw a lot of dirt was the area around the powersteering box. Wander if someone has had a little bit of trouble with that. :)

So tell me how you really feel here..... Amazing

On the dirt deal...

If one can see in the pics the restriction, then I am not sure what to say or do to assist you. Look again and its there.

Comparison...

I never said anything questioning the cooling capabilities of the Spearco unit itself. I did however question the rah rah on the gains made between them when it was really no comparision with the filth in his factory unit. Spearco has and does make some quality products and their workmanship is very good. Clean the old one up,add a intake air gauage run it,then swap them and compare the temps and then if there is a huge gain in cooling don your cheerleading suit.

Spool up...

Shows us it from a dea stop with that monster charger you run for pulling. While we all here know that lagtime on a large charger is bad,the meare changing of a intercooler will not overcome it and correct it. Its will help with cooling and some with spoolup but overcome all the lag,I doubt it.

And now to our resident forum post critic wildmanben...

While you may think I am in need of a chill pill I am not. I am however, tiring of all the false claims and statements which may mislead a new owner. Reread what he started this thread with and a couple of the others(where I have posted in which my comments bother you) and think like a new owner. If you read his words above it makes you feel like the addition of this will cure your lag problems all together, when reality shows it will help, but not cure. I guess your probably right,I need a break, know nothing to assist and should be quiet for a while. So with that I'll slip out and pick up my stock 215 pump and 370's to allow my truck to make 680+ hp and learn to tune better... ..... Later

I was thinking about getting that turbo myself, but it sounds like the pro street doesn't light off until about 2000 rpm. :eek: Too much charger for my 3. 54 gears and 35"tires. :{

Matt,

Your too frugile to buy one of those. :). It isn't that bad of spooling, but it does spool slower than a sled puller with the 14. I personally thought that was a better street charger. Some people complain of surge issues with the sled puller 66, but I never had any. I have a used one sp66 sitting around, on a 24v truck about 9 months. Selling it for a customer. PM me if your interested.

no, I dont see any restriction inside the CAC. I see the crap on the outside, but nothing that would stop flow on the inside. What pic are you seeing crap inside?

:-laf :-laf Thats some funny stuff there!!

For those asking where to get these, Shoot me an email, my PM box is full. I'll hook you up. I will be on the road, so you can also call 715-498-0707 if you wish.

I am hauling a trailer to Baton Rouge, I will try to get a few in cab videos from a dead stop to show spoolup etc.

So far around town & on town roads at 55MPH I have no EGT problems with about 4200lbs behind me. I know its not much of a load, but I'm fueled pretty heavily and have not touched the plate or AFC for this trip.

bobcat,

What are the $$$$$ & where did you get it???????

Has anyone esle done a cooler change ???????

Has there been any tests on all available coolers ????? :D

We need answers!!!!

WAYNES WORLD

Got a chance to tow with the new Intercooler on the way back from Houston.

I DID NOT turn the fueling down at all.

On the way home, we lost 5th gear in the new truck, so we towed it with the sled pulling truck. .

Ooops... Little Sooty.

EGT's ran 800-900 degrees at 72MPH. I was very happy with how it towed.

Weighed in at 19,000lbs GCW.

Well I finally got set up with them. Nice products. Same intercooler wrks for 12v and 24v 2nd gens. Looks like they are a quality unit and shouldflow very well. I am still waiting to get a few copies of the test data, but I will be looking at one of these for my truck with the price of the BD kit, the Spearco ones are much better.
