Attention: TDR Forum Junkies My dealer made me happy the 4th time around.
Since new my 04' sometimes would not go into 4wd & the "service 4x4" light would come on in the dash. They replaced the module , then the solenoid, then the switch -- problem would always return. Regional rep came in on it along with tecs from DC & all the tests showed new parts & wiring were ok. They were stumped. The only thing left was the X-fer case itself. So they took one from a truck off the lot with 6 miles on it & swapped it with mine. It worked! Their sending the bad case back to DC.
I'm glad it was the case because I was beginning to think the electronic 4x4 switch system was very unreliable.
They even rented me another truck -- Chevy
Has anyone else ever seen that "SERVICE 4x4 " dash light come on?
5k miles & 15+ mpg.
