One of my favorite things to do, besides drinking beer and chasing skirt, is I like laying underneath my truck and looking up at the massive monster known as a "Cummins". Just like looking at a centerfold pinup ehh? Well I thought about a rattle I have had since I bought the truck new. Upon my thorough investigation I found the air cleaner snorkel was not attched to the air box. It was just flopping around in the fender. I pulled it back threw the box and then I noticed the box was slightly loose so while I was taking care of business in this area I tightened it as well. Guess what? NO MORE RATTLES!!!! If you have this problem you might want to check this area.

I recently found mine was just as you described. I was looking for a rattle which very reciently showed up after the Ol'Lady plowed into the back of someone, when I came across the loose snorkle.

But this didn't fix my problem. Will look deeper this weekend.

Hey, guess what? DC put the snorkle in like you found it-not tucked into the air box. Don't know why. I tucked in the snorkle into the airbox on a 94 gasser I had. It transmitted lots of noise into the body that I could hear in the cab.
My best tip: Remove the snorkle. I can't budge the filter minder since I did.

I agree with Extreme1. That snorkel is like sucking through a straw for a Cummins at any BOMBed level. Think about it, a design dating back to 1994 for a 160hp Cummins isn't going to cut it for engines making 100hp or more over that! #ad
