Fellow Rammers:

Anyone got RS-9000Xs on their trucks? Do you like 'em?

I ordered mine Friday. I was looking for a good deal on RS-9000s, but couldn't find any. I did find a sweet deal on the RS-9000Xs, the "next generation" in the Rancho adjustable shock line. They have 9 adjustable positions. I'm not sure I'll use all 9 of 'em, but what the hey.

They are supposed to be stouter and improved valving. We'll see.

i'd like to hear the results

Wiredawg,

I run a 4x2 2500 and am continually trying to find ways to get this truck to handle better. I curse the day I added a rear leaf and rearched the rest. This changed the truck static geometry, read that as the ass is in the air. The front end is already marginal for holding up and keeping that heavy Cummins steady. It is a great truck for the 5th wheel or 2 ton of somethin' but unloaded you gotta wear a bump cap.

The Monroe Gas shocks on the front are just not what I think I need. I'd like to hear what you had and how the new Ranchos work.

Thanks

I had RS-9000s on my 2500

Murphy67:

I knew I wanted Rancho adjustable shocks, because of the wide range of loads I carry. Running "empty", I'm carrying over 1,800 lbs of extra weight plus I'm looking to add an auxilary tank/toolbox combo. When loaded with my 5th wheel, I'm grossing 25. 6K lbs.

Anyway, I really liked the RS-9000s on my 2500. They provided great handling and gave me the full range of ride choices. They really help the heavy front our trucks have toting this monster Cummins around. I have two speed bumps I go over everyday that highlights how inferior the stock shocks are.

I will post results after I recieve and install them. I'm looking at driving out to Texas in December, which ought to give me a real look. If they perform as well as their predessesor, I'm sure I'll like 'em.

Wiredawg,

Good point about shocks and speed bumps. Both the stock shocks and Edelbrock IAS would hit the bump stops in front going over speed bumps in my Ram. The Bilsteins I'm currently running have yet to bottom in front. Sounds like the new Ranchos are good shocks...

Wiredawg,

Have you installed and put those new Ranchos shocks through the paces? I finally got around to ordering a set. Found them for about 82. 00 ea. at Summit Racing. (+ shipping).

I asked around at various shops in my neck of the woods and no one had much of an opinion. I also spied a good looking adj. shock from Explorer Competition Products (MX 6's) , unfortunately no application for my Ram 4x2.

At the same time I am going for a set of Carbon Kevlar disc pads from EGR, they're in the TDR.

Let me know what you thought of your Ranchos.

I'm Impressed

Murphy 67:

I'm really liking them so far. I love the adjustablity. I had them set a little too stiff to begin with, but now have them turned just right. I'm headiing to Texas on 8 or 9 December with my 20 foot enclosed car hauler. Running out ther w/ patial load, coming back fully loaded. It should be around 10K lbs coming back.

I'll report results after I return. I'm sure you'll enjoy the flexiblity of these shocks, especially if you run with such diverse conditions as I do.
