OK here is the deal.

This may have been going on since I installed the DD2's but not sure. Anyway heres what I'm wondering about.

Just changed my oil today and checked all my fluids, going on a long trip soon. After I was done I let the truck warm up and checked the oil level, it was fine. I wanted to see how my truck would do without the Plug and Power hooked up,and with just the DD2's. I'm at sea level so I usually don't get much smoke unless I jump on it. So without the box hooked up, very little to no smoke. Then I went back to the house and hooked the box back up. On heavy take off almost all blue smoke, but after a few runs I noticed more black with some blue mixed in. You can see the two distinct colors.

I always check my oil and never had to add any. No oil in coolant visa versa. No leaks. Very little oil in blow bye bottle, I usually keep the bottle empty and clean but ever since I went to Amsoil very little in bottle. Boost remained constant. And I just installed a new lift pump because my last one was on its way out. My last lift pump was running at 8-9 psi and for how long I'm not sure, just installed my pressure gauge a month or so ago.

My power seemed normal no stumble but there was a little hesitation at hard take off. My DD2's are new, when I got them a couple months ago I noticed one set of numbers was out of sequence and another injector had a small burr on the tip it appeared as if it were dropped. I called DD and they told me not to worry about the out of sequence number that it meant nothing???? And to take a small piece of emery cloth and sand down the burr and that it also would not hurt????

Could it be my Plug and Power???

Could it be the out of sequence injector is the wrong one????

Could I have a bad injector, being the one with the burr????

What else could it be???? I made multiple runs and tried to make as much smoke each time and it appeared each time there was some blue mixed in with the black..... Any input would be greatly appreciated, we are getting ready to go on a 3-4 thousand mile trip possibly more. Don't want to have major problems. Or maybe I'm just worried about nothing. Sorry so long... ... ... Dwayne

37k on the truck.

Just went out one more time and the smoke was mostly blue???

One thing is to Check the turbo inlet as the turbo could be worn. Thus drawing in oil thru the bearings. you will see a trail of oil wrapping arround the intake of the turbo and possibly coated blades. Blue = oil

I remember last winter when I lost a turbo (rear bearing failure).

That the smoke of course was blue.

But, it only smoked blue/white until it spooled up a bit, or if I got on it hard it was all black smoke as usual.

Good luck and keep us posted.

?

I was just wondering if it could be these other things I mentioned, only because I read this when I did a search. I took the intake hose off again and took a good look inside and see no signs of oil in the trubo or on the blades. What else can I check. It only smoke some blue when I get on it, nothing while idle. When I first start it, exhaust smells a little rich. Thanks for the help so far.

You wont notice the oil on the intake side, it usually starts leaking on the exhaust/turbine side of the turbo.

Check you tail pipe for oil.
