This may not relate to the engines in our trucks, but it's a pretty good story. This happened in my work truck (05 Kenworth T 800 550 hp caterpiller 4:10 rear end)
Me and another truck driver were hauling a load of gas up a small mountain in NW Georgia. We were hauling the same, me 8700 gal gas- he was hauling 8700 gals also but 900 gals was diesel, so he was a little heavier than me.
So we were talking on the C. B. and I found out his truck has a 500 h. p. CUMMINS with a 3. 90 rear end (both trucks have 13 speed trannys)
We start up the mountain and he is right on my rear. I tell him to pull out and go around if he can, and by golly he does just that! He left me pretty good by the time we got to the top.
I guess the morale of the story is you cannot go wrong if you've got a Cummins under the hood!!!! Even in the big trucks where everyone loves Caterpiller engines.
