talked to lead diesel tech at local dealer and asked what their blood pressure would be like if I installed a 2 micron fuel filter and bypass filter set up. He said PLEASE DO! It will help your make your rig last longer and I won't have to do injectors on it!

That is why I installed mine, don't want to have to do the injectors or go through the whole deal. My dealership felt the same way, tech and service mgr said they were going to recommend it to all his truck owners after seeing my setup - GDP. They also agree about the low fuel pressure out of the tank to the CP3 and it having a relationship to failure or early failure. Had no problem with me adding the Walbro pump, and would not consider it to be a warranty issue with the fuel system.

I just got my GDP 2 micron finter installed yesterday. Very clean install and now I'm waiting for the fuel press gauge from Geno's I just ordered

I just installed the GDP 2-micron filter with the big line kit too.

The fuel pressure readings dropped about 1-2 pounds from this mod.

My dealer has no problem with this mod either, also I'm saving for the Walbro kit too! Oo.

No issues from my dealer on the 2 micron either, in fact he said if he had one he would install the filter as well.

I am going to install the GDP walbro big line & 2 micron filter kit for the fuel system and the amsoil bypass kit for the oil system.

You may want a larger filter if you are seeing a 2 psi drop. I don't know how that's possible with a filter that has a < 1psi drop at 100 gph according to GDP website. What were your pre a post filter install readings?

CDonaldson - They also agree about the low fuel pressure out of the tank to the CP3 and it having a relationship to failure or early failure.

What is this??? That goes against everything Bosch has ever said that I've read, i. e. , 0 psi is acceptable as long as flow is adequate, 45 gph or so. You are implying that we all need higher pressure at CP than factory pump can provide. Let's not start a panick here or should we? What is the reasoning behind this. Going from 0 psi to 20,000 doesn't seem much different than 15 psi to 20,000. I thought flow was more critical. I don't want an aftermarket pump if not necessary. People are getting over 100,000 miles with the in-tank lift pumps. If the aftermarket pump is necessary for life of CP, injectors, added filtering, etc. , then so be it. I want the proof and then I will add one. Every year is different with injector mods, CP mods, ECM mods, etc. , so it is really hard to keep track of all this.

I stalled a 2 micron on all of my trucks and its the best thing for them, but the dealer is not the end all. STAR is the worst. All warrenty parts come through star. As long as the dealer doesn't squeal u're okay. I've tried and tried for Star to write a formal okay, but they rather see motors blow up from bad injectors i guess.

How easy is the install for this system? Does the system come with complete instructions? Is it recommended that one seek the ok from the dealer prior to installing it?

its crazy easy. The regular line kit is the easiest. The big line is harder and take a little more time. The regular line is all you need. Its under pressure not a vacuum so size isn't that important. The regular kit will take about 15-20 minutes. You can install it in 5 minutes if the diesel gods have faver in you.

Exactly which kit are you talking about installing in 15 to 20 minutes, let alone 5 minutes? I might need to investigate that one... . ;)

My pressures before the GDP filter install were 15 @ idle and WOT they never went below 7. Now they are 1-2 pounds less overall.

ON EDIT! I should have posted 10 lbs @ idle, sorry!!! The other numbers are correct though.

RankRam, thanks for reply.

Wow, 15 psi with a 2006 factory lift pump sounds really good. I guess the fuel flow, demand, changes a lot with hp so the pressure drops? I haven't measured mine yet but when the weather warms up I will. I was expecting below 8 psi from what others have said and what the GDP article mentioned about the factory bypass being set around 8 psi. Maybe they changed things in newer trucks. What's the reasoning for Walbro kit? More reliable, ease of changing, or need more flow?

TMoe sorry about that 15 lb. statement, I must have been thinking about my 99's fuel pressure.

The pressure is running right at 7-8 lbs while cruising @ 70 mph.

The gauge I have on this 06 is the same gauge that I used on my 99 many years ago.

Those Westach gauges sure do last a long time!
