Got the fitings, which line to cut for Auto Trans Sender

So I've got the "T" and the compression fittings. Now I want to cut the Auto oil cooling line so I can install my temperature guage.

Which line do I cut? There are two lines going into the oil/water cooler on the side of the engine. Which one?

Also will a standard tubing cutter cut steel lines? Anything to watch out for?

Should I mount or brace the brass "T" in any way or will the oil line be enough to support it?

The line from the trans to the block mounted cooler is the hot one. It then goes to the heat exchanger at the front of the truck and then back to the trans.

I mounted mine as follows: Removed anti-drain back valve assembly from heat exchanger at side of block. Went to hydraulic shop and bought hose, push on hose fittings, a T, a bushing, a couple inverted flare to pipe fittings and (I think) a pipe nipple.

I mounted the T to the heat exchanger with the nipple, put the sender in the side of the T with the bushing and put one of the push on hose fittings on the bottom. I then installed the inverted flare fitting in the existing (Dodge) line coming from the trans with the other push on fitting and cut the hose to fit between the push on fittings. This assembly replaces the anti drain back hose assembly and maintains about the same length of hose between the line and the heat exchanger.

The reason I did this was to eliminate the T from hanging on the line by compression fittings.

There are alot of guys running the set up you have, I'm just a little picky about this kind of stuff.
