Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Got the jake, can't make it brake!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 04. 5 cummins 6 speed truck & I have a jacobs exhaust brake that I want to install on it. The brake came with no compressor, wiring etc. just the brake itself. I was just wondering how to hook this thing up, can it be done with a compressor & a switch? What do I need to get? I was told by a friend that I can get a 12v compressor & a switch & just run the brake that way. Is he feeding me a line or can it be done, because suicidedoors.com has a 12v 150 psi. compressor for $109. 95. What should I do?
