I have a 01 S. C. 4x4 automatic and the injector pump is bad and I have to buy a new one. Question is, can I get a H. O. VP 44 and put it on a no H. O. eng? Are the injectors the same on both eng`s. Thanks for any help..... D. J.

I know the injectors are different I think the HO injectors are a bit smaller than the non HO. I don't know about the pumps them selfs. Once you get a new pump make certen to get your self a fuel presser gage hooked up so you can monitor the fuel presser to be safe.

I think the HO and SO pumps are different, as are the pistons, injectors, turbo, and a few other things that escape my feeble memory right now.

The general concensus that I have seen due to this question being asked 86 other times???? Is that if your truck is stock the HO pump should work and give you a few extra ponies, but if you modify much at all you'll have issues. The ECM's have a different program, the injectors are different and the pump is different. The turbos are HX35's regardless of HO or SO as long as it's standard transmission, yours is a HY35 I believe. This information is what I took away from reading previous posts on the subject, at one time I thought my pump was going out and found a super deal on a HO pump from a motor that got hot. In the end I decided I wasn't going to take the chance of spending the money on a "maybe it might work". Besides that someday when I win the lottery I don't want to have to change it again so I can really bomb the truck.

Do it the easy way, get the correct pump for your truck. Some have tried swaping to an HO pump with success, but for allintensive purposes, just use the correct pump.

i'd go with non-HO. They are more receptive to the boxes. Get ahold of Joe Pruett. He lives in Culman. He has a tractor repair shop there, i'm sure he can help you out.
