I was so impressed with a Durango rental while my rig was in the shop, I picked up an 05 Durango that had 5k miles on it. Got a great deal and thats right, IT'S GOT A HEMI!!! So far just over 17mpg in town. My guess is over 20 on the highway. Should know in 3 weeks on my monthly trip to Calif. With diesel about 30 cents more than prem in my area, it made sence to get a "family" car that the youngest son can drive and have enough metal around him should someone get crazy and hit him. It will also keep him out of the rest of the collection!

Congrats. That's quite a collection of "toys" in your sig. How's that Z06?

You and Hasslebach ought to get together. He has a nice collection too.

If he's like most young boys... he'll be the one doing the hitting... :D

Only thing wrong with that collection is that Ferd with the PowerJoke. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the Ferd? The 2nd gen? The 3rd gen? The Durango/Hemi?

I have a brother who lives in Grants Pass, whom we visit every other year. Grizzly

Nice Cuda, thats a REAL hemi unlike the newer mopars :-(

Good luck with the durango, watch your head on that low a piller haha

17-20 MPG??? I have been under the impression that the Hemi was only good for about 12-14 mpg? A friend of mines girlfriend just bought a hemi ram and he is claiming it gets 20mpg. Am I missing something here, when did the Hemi start putting up these numbers? It might be time for a trade.

20mpg? HAHAHAHHAHA! :-laf I get about 10-12mpg in my hemi Ram.

The Furd is ok as far as comfort, when it's not in the shop. It's used to haul the 5er with the horses to Oklahoma and back with 4 or more people. It wasn't my choice but it has a bigger cab and the seats are nicer on long hauls. It isn't long for the world as it is hitting the 100k mark and the warranty will go bye bye. I hate anything without a warranty.

I used to get 16. 5-17 consistently with mine, in mixed driving. Broke 19 once. Never took it on a road trip, but I'm pretty sure, under the right conditions, 20 is possible. Moreso with a Durango, than a pickup. The trick is keeping the right foot out of it, which is hard to do. I wouldn't trade my Cummins back for another one, though, even though I did like the way it ran.

Not a bad looking truck for a Ferd. I hear you on the extra room on the larger back seat, but since my wife and I rarely take anyone else with us my Quad cab works well. Question for you, how do you download a picture on a post or on my profile? I been trying, but I can't seem to reduce my pictures to the 100 kb size without breaking the pic into little squares. Oo.

Oo.

I always perfer the Cummins over the Powerstroke when I have to drive. As for the picture reduce, I use the Microsoft Photo that came with my Dell laptop. Very easy once I finally figured it out. I must say, I have walked with the Powerstroke and still have yet to walk with the cummins :D

IMOP, the cummins is a much better truck, overall. The Furd will be leaving soon and my Cummins will be the truck of choice. (who cares as long as it isnt me in the back seat!) :-laf On your question about the Durango, on the 1-10 scale, Actually I liked my Yukon XL better but heck, I wanted the HEMI!

Not sure how long we will keep it. Gas went up another 6 cents this morning. We are almost at $3 a gallon now. The PT Crusier is starting to look better and better! The times are a changing!

My wife's ride is an 04 Durango with a Hemi and she gets 13-14 in the city drive and on then highway going with the speeds of traffic, 70-80 we consistently get 19. 5-21 MPG. I think if it didn't have the all time traction the mileage would be better, but they definitely are nice rides. I hate driving it because I miss my acceleration that I get in my 1 ton. :-laf

working for a dealer I drive most of the vehicles from time to time and yes the Hemi is quite capable of the numbers he speaks of, it is all about the driving habbits; the realy impressive ones are the Magnum and the 330c with the 4cyl shutdown breaking 27mpg and they scoot just fine... Funny raced a lighting onto the freeway one day with a magnum and wel no contests ****** off the ferd owner though... .

Sounds like it's time for a Mega Cab ;)

IMHO on the mega cab. Chrysler finally did it, they introduced a cab that will put them in the hunt as far as trucks go and by doing this they took themselves out of 2 markets, 1) long boxes, 2) duallies. As for me I prefer to have a dually when towing the 5er mostly for the stability and we all know duallies come with long boxes. Oh well guess I will keep my current truck for a while. On that note I have 145k on the clock and have had few problems. I had a L. P go at 80k and a map sensor at 104k, water pump at 130k and so far everything else is holding up just fine. I count myself lucky to not have had all the problems that others have had. I normally average around 21-22 on the highway if I keep it under 65mph and avoid those jack rabbit starts, lol.
