Well on my way home I notice 0 oil pressure on the gauge and check gauge light. I have full oil level and I have oil and pressuree going through my Frantz oil filter into the valve cover. any suggestions. thanks ED

Sounds to me like your oil pressure "Sender", went south! If you have oil flowing through the by-pass, you definately have oil pressure.

my thoughts.

just got in out of sunny california SNOW and put a pressure gauge on and it is about 70psi. Have a friend that works at parts at cummins and will give her a call now. thanks ED

If I'm not mistaken, I think you'll find it on the driver side of the engine, just to the rear of the Injector pump about 5-6 inches. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

one more question if you don't mind, how many terminal on the pressure switch. Just too bitter out side for a spoiled sunny california guy to go out in. thanks ED

3 wires on the oil sensor . We are having a heat wave tonight, 16 degrees right now, but they are calling for single digits starting Monday night.

See below from my thread with almost the same title as yours - from July of this year. bottom line get part number 4088390nx it'll give you the correct function you want, or you could always get a aftermarket gage and then figure out how to deal with the constant "check gages light" on the dash.

From my 7/08 thread/

JR2 - Thanks for the info. Before I saw your reply I picked up the Cummins part #4076930 "Switch, Pressure" and the part # 3164755 "Cable Electrical". After looking at it I thought this is a switch! And, after reading the installation instructions where it reads "A re-calibration of the ECM is required with this procedure, Bla, Bla". And in a Note below it states "If a re-calibration is not performed, a persistent Fault Code 141 will exist. "

I decided to check the part mentioned in the link you provided to see if it's still good. Bingo! Part 4088390nx checked to be good, I asked if it was superseded by another part and was told yes that's 4921511 - Bingo again. It's on it's way to me for $83. 46 + UPS +/- $10. 00.

Although the part I got (Switch & Cable) was $25. 49 + whatever the dealer charge to re-flash my ECM I feel better with a gage that's a "gage" than a gage that's an "Idiot" light. And, My ECM is fine, I've heard the horror stories others have had when taking their truck in for what should be a simple re-flash. "We don't need no stinking dingbats screwing around in the ECM".

Thanks,

The TDR - "I love this place!"
