Gonna maybe adjust my govoner. What do I look for when doing this since I have never done it before. I hear that people back them off a click or two. Is it like the star wheel adjustment?

I'm not adjusting them for more performance. But too see if I can rid of the low rpm stumbles.

You might want to try and adjust the pre boost screw on the back of the AFC housing it helped mine. There's a cover you have to remove under there is a allen screw and lock nut, turn in 1 to 2 turns see if that will help... . Rick

Jeff,

Backing off the gov. springs is not that difficult. Take out your torque plate. As you rotate the crank, you will see the adjustment "nut" come into view (there are two of them). I used a dandelion puller after grinding it a bit. There is a slot in the nut that the prongs of the puller will fit into. The stud in the middle of the nut should protrude above the nut equally for both nuts.

Backing off the gov. springs helped my surging problem at low throttle. Is that the same thing you are experiencing?

I doubt that the roughness at low revs is related to the governor. Sounds more like a fuel delivery issue. Maybe fuel pressure? Or something is a little dirty?

Just my guess.
