Gov Spring HELP!!

Early this week I got my Valve spring,Gov Spring & DD#3 inj

I pulled the injectors first knowing it would make it easier to

put the valve springs on,got them in but it seems my wife in a

cleaning frenzy lost my gov spring & del valve directions I've

searched the house no luck I really want to get them in I also have searched & can't find no info since TDR has this new site the archives seem to be gone. Does anyone know of a site with

instructions??

You need to remove #1 deliver valve to set timing, so use the directions in the Mopar Service Manual. Gov spring instructions may be on the BD-power site.



Torque the delivery valve holder to 29, then 85 ft lb in a single motion. Remove the torque plate and use telescoping magnets to & the gov springs. I recommend cleaning and marking with paint the lock and retainer so you can easily get back to the same number of clicks. Also use the end of vernier calipers to get the stud to retainer distance, usually around 0. 065". Remove all old shims and spring seats except the big shim under all the springs that fits in the flyweight pocket.

Sewman, there is a very handy book you can buy from your local cummins dealer. It includes both B&C engines. the i have is from 96 but im sure there is a new one out. the part # of my book is 3810205-12 or you should be able to call 1-800-DIESELS. hope this will help you in the future.
