Here's something for you guys to try that think you need it all. Piers and I installed one of his 3200 rpm spring kits in my truck during MM. This mod is definitely worth every penny!!!! Not only did it give you that increased RPM for those occassional high speed get aways from almost anything but seems to improve the torque throughout the RPM's as well. This is something I didn't think I needed But boy was I wrong. It just seemed to put the iceing on the cake.

You can get the kit through BD. Call Piers for pricing you know the rules. Installation could be a slight problem most people don't think you can put these in while the pump is on the motor but you can. Drop me an e mail and I can see if I can help with that.
 
Is there power all the way up to 3200rpm's,also what is the rpm limit ? I hear you can take it to 3600 rpm's safely.
I have power up to 3100 rpm's just buy adjusting the high idle screw,did you try this first and then do the replacement.

With the governor spring kit you don't need to reset the high idle screw. Adjusting that screw is a real bear in many years of Rams because of the steel tamper-resistant sealing cap. That adjustment only increases high IDLE, not the shape of the maximum possible power curve vs. rpm. Hence the power s still dropping badly at upper rpm with the high idle adjustment. The governor spring change is the best way to keep power from dropping so much at higher rpm.
 
How hard is the spring swap and how long should it take???

Joe is right the power curve seems to be much better. There seems to be no fuel cutback as far as I can see up to 3400 so far but I try to keep it below 3200 just for safety sake. Even down low in the RPM 1600+ the torque seems to be better. This is not like messing with the High idle screw at all. I did that more work with very little gain.
 
At what point are stiffer valve springs required to prevent valve float?

So how hard is it to change to the heavier valve springs. It's the 60# ones, right ?

I just talked to a person named Charlie up at RD and he told me that the kit was about $150. 00 plus shipping. He also mentioned that if you didn't have a manusl and possibley somone that has some govener esperience that the job is not an easy one and should not' be tackled alone. For what that is worth.

I am interested in the kit myself, I just need to find some time.

Piers installed one of his governor kits on my truck about six months ago. Before we installed the governor spring kit we adjusted the pump to the upper limit of the Bosch specs. #ad

. Now all that new power has somewhere to go. The install didn't take very long at all. I would recommend this kit to anyone looking for that little extra performance.
