I'm about ready to put a governer spring in my truck this weekend.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks not covered in the governer spring thread?

Or Pastor, do you have any updates to that thread?

I'm nervous about doing it too... especially since I have to do my work in the... ... .....

OUCH!!. I don't envy you CB. Nor would I recommend it. Good luck. Wish I could help you with you'r to gain knowledge on mine.

Keep out the dust/dirt fo' sure!

Part of the problem is that my truck won't fit in a garage, so that's out of the question.

I'm trying to find a better way to do it, but I'm having a hard time.

You and me both!! I used to have to back in right to the mirrors, fold in the drivers side and pull it back out once inside. Since I got the dually, I can't even get that far.

I use a piece of 3/4" plywood for my "garage floor" now... . well, I will in the springtime.

My problem is that my headache rack from the flatbed sets too high... if I had a regular bed on it I think I might fit...

But I'm gonna fix that with a lift this summer! :D

The GOV SPRG thread got posted about the same time I had to tear that one pump apart to loosen the sticking guide pin, and I dont think he missed anything. I added a few little things, but the big stuff is there. Make sure to keep your full power screw at the same place it is; I Loc-Tited mine in place to mark where it had been.

I wasn't that nervous thats probably because I was drinking beer and whatching my mechanic do all the work. Since I have a good relationship with my mechanic it only cost me a couple of beers during and after the install, well maybe more than acouple, we had quite a beer tab.

My only regret is that I hadnt done the spring job sooner. It sure makes a difference. You will be very happy with the results.

I have the spring sitting in my garage right now (not in the pump). Is there any advantage to installing heavy duty valve springs at the same time? Are they necessary?

Are you going to run at or above 3300-3400 on a regular basis???

If not, no, if yes, then... well... . yes. . :D:D

:-laf :-laf... wait till you have your first RPM flare to near 3800 RPM... darn scary...
