Help on $$$$ of Rheem On Demand Hot Water Heater

I read with horor about the proposed government bill to raise the price (estimated . 88/gal) to head off the use of diesel and move into a cleaner fuel i. e. CNG among others.

If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to give some details or better yet, post up a link to the article about how diesel exhaust is the no. 1 culpret to global warming.

It was published recently in a diesel truck trade magazine... ... .

More golbal warming BS. How much global warming could be attributed to the latest California wildfire would you suppose?

I allways wondered, how much global warming comes from all the space shuttle launches, and all rocket related activities. never heard a peep about it. if C. A. R. B. was involved would any of this happen?

Greenleaf, are you by chance referring to the "Climate Bill" passed by the democrats in congress??

That bill also will raise the price of fuel (both gas and diesel).

The Climate Bill | Issues | Energy Citizens

"The Heritage Foundation has forecast gasoline prices could increase $1. 38 per gallon by 2035. That means gasoline could easily reach, if not exceed, $4 a gallon.

Heritage also reports that by 2012—the first year of the legislation's “caps”—diesel fuel prices are expected to rise to $3. 75 per gallon. “Waxman-Markey would tack on another 20 cents—and that's only the start. Because the legislation mandates ever-tightening restrictions on fossil fuels, and the tax on diesel continues to rise. Even after adjusting for inflation, this tax will hit $1. 38 by 2035. ”

According to the National Federation of Independent Businesses, the cost of fuel—natural gas, propane, gasoline or diesel—ranks as the second greatest challenge for small business owners.

Truckers, who haul 11 billion tons of freight every day from one corner of our nation to the other each year, will face significant burdens because of these higher energy costs. And that could raise the costs to consumers of the products they ship.

For farmers, who operate energy-intensive machinery from dusk to dawn, any increase in operating costs will squeeze already low profit margins and could raise consumer costs in the grocery store. The American Farm Bureau estimates this intrusive legislation will force production costs up from—$5 billion to $13 billion a year. "

You may want to subject this to the test of "reasonableness". How can anyone predict the price of fuel in 2035, when no one knows what it will be just a year from now. Also, do the math on "11 billion tons per day". Assume a big rig carries 30 tons of cargo, that would mean there would be 366 million trucks on the road every day- that's six times the number of cars in the country. A more reasonable figure would be 11 billion pounds per day.

Those friggin morons! The new semis we are stuck with at work have all the OBD crap on them and they are 1> much more expensive initially, 2> much more expensive to maintain, 3> much more difficult to work on, 4> much less reliable and prone to OBD related breakdowns.

When functioning properly, the air coming out the stack is cleaner than the air going in the intake. You can take a white glove to the stack and find NO soot.

You CANNOT run any bio-diesel (all part of the plan to keep us dependent on foreign oil). The huge increase in costs are passed directly to you consumers in the price of EVERYTHING you buy.

Diesel is a cleaner burning fuel in these engines than gasoline is in cars. But at a terrible price.

When all is said and done, the decrease in manufacturing and transportation here is direct result of compliance costs, also resulting in those manufacturing/transportation jobs going to countries like Mexico and Communist China, where they have absolutely NO emissions standards.

Net result of all this emissions crap: A HUGE increase in worldwide pollution and a HUGE loss of American jobs and a HUGE hit to YOUR wallet.

No, not the Climate Bill. It is a cap and trade bill called the American Clean Energy and Security Act.

It is going after the use of buring diesel fuel which creates greenhouse gas emissions- carbon dioxide.

I need to go find a link to this on the web site... ... ... .....

The article is too new to be displayed on the web site. This is Heavy Duty Trucking Cover Story

The bill passed the House.

This will, among others, will give the EPA the authority to set greenhouse gas emission standards begining the end of next year.

What about the 275 gal drum of heating oil sitting in most every cellar being burned to keep warm?
Its the same stuff as diesel and there is no cat conv, dpf filter on a oil burner.
What are these moron gov types trying to do shut down the country with more Regs?

Sounds like a bunch of hype to sell magazines. Read the article in the October issue of
Diesel Power on Tactical Biofuels. The Dept. of Defense is researching and
standardizing the use of bio fuels for diesel and jet juel. You'll sleep better at night.
