Decided to check the adjustment of the governor lever to the TST #11 plate.

I missed the part on Piers web page about moving the throttle forward with the fuel shot off solenoid in the run position. Is it possible that the lever could be adjusted to high. I did move the throttle forward but before the minor adjustment. I did not recheck and I buttoned everything up and went for a test drive. Throttle response is alot better. Is it possible something could be damaged. ? If I need to I can re-check tomorrow after I get home church.

Thanks in advance

It won't take a few minutes to check, just pull the afc off and have a look. Even if it's ok, it's worth the peace of mind.

I guess I need to re-phrase my post. After thinking about where the governor lever was located prior to the adjustment I don't think it was to far from being correct. So I guess my question should have been more like if you turn the adjustment screw ccw to much will this cause the lever to go under the plate?

One more thing I have been reading that pushing the fuel plate full forward can cause some de-fueling. Will this hold true on the less aggressive #11 plate as well? I have also been following Jim Fulmer's readings on the AFC. On my AFC I have the TST spring kit the boost elbow installed and the AFC housing full forward, but I have also backed the star wheel off to help with the smoke control. I did put regulated shop air on the AFC housing in some what of crude way. The AFC started moving with very low pressure around the 23psi. To get the 20psi mark that was Jim talking about does the spring tension it self need to be adjusted or the star wheel or a different spring all together.

Any response would be appreciated.

Well I pulled things apart after church and checked where the governor lever was hitting the #11 plate with the fuel shutoff in the on position and rolling the throttle and the arm was hitting above the bottom of the plate. Last night I had pushed the #11 plate full forward and checked the lever but did not pull the throttle to re-check. Went for test ride and the truck ran great 32# of boost I was pretty happy but after re-reading the directions on the PDR page I felt I need ed to re-check. Well I moved the plate off of full forward to where it was prior to last nights adjustment and checked the lever adjustment. The lever was a little high so I Turned the adjustment screw cw until the arm went under the plate and then turned the adjustment screw ccw to bring the arm to approximate of what the picture shows on the PDR instructions. I checked the AFC to see how much air pressure it would to take to have full travel and that was about 18#'s. I read on here about swapping the washers on the diaphram a to gain more travel which worked. It now takes 20#'s of air pressure to get full travel. This is with heavier spring from TST. Went for test ride and boost is now 26#s and the truck feels a little laggy probably due to bringing the plate from full forward to slightly forward from stock. Now If the governor lever is a little higher than the bottom of the foot will allow more fueling sooner since the arm is hitting higher on the fuel curve? And if this correct is this okay. I guess having the arm starting or hitting at the bottom helps to control fuel input which in turn will help some with smoke?

Any responses would be great.

Merry Christmas to all and God Bless.
