I replaced the GPS this evening after 88000 miles. I noticed some hesitation and hunting during the 1-2 shift. It has been most noticeable when the fluid is cold (not necessarily in cold weather, just not hot after a long run). I put the gauages on the governor test port and had some fluctuating pressures until I reached 35 MPH. I'll put the gauges on it again in a few days but a few miles this evening convinced me that it was necessary. It isn't a cheap part but but replacing it is very easy.

If you have a transmission that is "hunting" for the right gear, 1st or 2nd, make the swap.

My trans is doing the same thing. How much was the GPS? I have just over 42000 miles. It's started hunting about 2 months ago.

Mine developed a hunting problem about 3 months before I had my DTT upgrade. Fred Swanson said this was due to a bad transducer and replaced it when doing the upgrade. The GPS was also replaced but that is part of the DTT upgrade. Cost for the transducer was $46. 58. You might give Bill K. a call and ask his advice.

I have talked to Bill and this was his recommendation, to replace the GPS first. I do not need the complete transmission package or significant upgrades at this time. I am sure to get to that point sometime in the future.

Bill also told me that they were experiencing a haigh failure rate with replacment GPS from DC. I was leery of buying from the dealer but I had to do something. The part was about $125. 00. It sure seemed expensive when I walked our with a tiny 3" box, but I feel differently with a trans that works correctly again.

Boy... there is a big difference between yalls price for the GPS. F-15I Ra'am, where did you buy the GPS for $46. 58?

F15I bought a transducer. GFoley bought a solenoid. The transducer is a sensor, the solenoid is an actuator. Hope this helps clear the confusion.

Hey LSMITH, thanks for clearing that up for me. I guess I need to read the post first and then let the price figures absorb into my tiny brain.
