Well I finally got around to installing the 3K governor springs I ordered about 2 months ago. The good thing is that truck feels like a totally different truck. The bad thing is I get a slight miss or stumble at about 2900 to 3000 rpms. Additionally it feels like the that's all she'll rev. I was under the impression that the truck should rev freely till about 3500 rpms, but it seems like it's hitting the governor at 3000rpms with the miss/stumble. Is this normal and if it's not what do I need to do in order to correct this problem.

Thanks ahead of time,

Joe

That's exactly how mine reacted to the 3k springs. I couldn't rev any higher with the 3k springs than 3k. Some of the 96-98 trucks will rev a little higher with the 3k springs, but not the 94 and 95's.

Install the 4k springs. You'll have good, useable power to 3000-3200 rpm, just don't floor it and leave it there or you will run into valve float at some point unless you put in the heavier valve springs.

I didn't have the mis/stumble though, I'd say call whoever you got the springs from and talk to them about it. I already had my timing advanced when I added the governor springs, so I don't know how stock timing and governor springs would act together.

good luck,

Mike

Stock Timing and 3K springs

I've got a 95 with stock timing, and the 3K gsk. I've experienced no miss, but have never tried to hit 3K, none the less 3500.

Well guys I talked to Piers and he said it's probably a timing issue which is totally understandable since my truck has 200,000 plus miles on it and has never been timed. I guess I'm going to have to get it timed after I do the Southbend Con OFE. :D

Thanks again for all your responses and happy bombing:D :)

I just had this gripe for the first time a few weeks back, guess were I got my info! Little pumps especially like a tad more timing.
