Where are you guys getting the grease gun hose with the (tapered) brass ends? I tried Kragen Auto Parts and the Home Depot tonight and neither had hoses with the brass ends. I need to move my FP sending unit. Trust me the sending units do not like to be mounted on the motor. :D

Teflon tape, yeah or nea?

I found the grease gun hose at the auto parts store... . but then again I was in a rural area, so they were in more demand.

Nay on the teflon tape. If you get a piece of that into the fuel system beyond the fuel filter you can clog something up. I had good luck with the brass on brass connection not leaking. But if you have problems, some Permatex #2 will seal things right up.

Genos garage

has the hose you need. I recently installed the westach fuel press gauge and hose from Genos. I mounted the sending unit using and old fuel filter bracket from my 92 dakota. The bracket had to be modified a little to clamp the sending unit but it worked out OK. I bolted it to the battery mount bolt it fits good it that spot. No leaks just be careful not to over tighten the clamp and the hose. LOL

Napa had the non-tapered grease hoses in my case whereas Pep Boys had the tapered ones (one would think that by definition NPT is suppose to be tapered!). No on the teflon tape, yes on the Permatex.

Good deal....

I've got a Pep Boys a couple of blocks from my job. I'll give 'em a try at lunch. Will also try to find the Permatex.

Thanks again,

FWIW, I picked up a grease gun hose at Ace Hardware for mine. I've also seen them at Sears Hardware and True Value. So if Pep Boys doesn't pan out, there's another option or two for you.

HTH.

Well...

Pep Boys was a bust, they had gg hoses, but none with the brass tapered fittings. I have a mom & pops auto parts store I think I'll try. They usually have the hard to find items. If not I'll try Sears.

cya,

The latest....

True Value... . out of stock for at least 2 weeks

Napa... ... says no such thing as brass ends, uh ok.

Mom & Pop..... has gg hose, but not brass ends

Sears says they don't carry the replacement hoses.

AutoZone... . has gg hose, but not brass ends.

Ace Hardware... doesn't carry replacement hoses.

This was all from phone calls in and around the Los Angeles area. One lady at Sears didn't even know what I was talking about, kept saying they had air hoses. Ah, the sweet melting pot of L. A.

From what I've been able to dig up here, if I use the non tapered gg hose I run the chance of a leak. There has to be a tapered hose in this city.

If all else fails........

You could just get a couple of barbed brass fittings and some hose. Doesn't look as neat but it's not like your dealing with any extreme pressures.

Garrett

hose

wal-mart has a short one with brass ends. they have been in the dept with the oil, on a upper shelf.

Marv.

illflem - Harbor Freight doesn't carry them any longer.

MLee - Thanks, but I would like to get the 18" hose.

Big White Beast - looks more like something I'll need to do, hit a couple more hardware stores and autopart stores last night, no luck.

Genos doesn't have the hose I need.

Why do you need the brass ends? I used just a regular grease gun hose (18") with the silver-colored ends (steel I think) and my setup worls great!

No complaints at all. So I am convinced that ANY grease gun hose will work as long as you have 1/8" NPT fittings.

Just be sure to use sealant (not teflon tape).

HOHN

What Hohn said. I was thinking of saying the same thing, but he beat me to the punch.

I've been using one from NAPA with tapered ends but not in brass since last summer. No problems.

If you really want to get anal about it steel is better, brass reacts with diesel and releases zinc. No real problem though unless you have a brass fuel tank.

Man was I anal......

After rereading what I had written in this thread, I slapped myself around a little. I ended up going with what Big White Beast suggested. Made a bracket to attach on the firewall connected the barbed brass fittings, hose and now all is

Couldn't believe I was such a Richard Withears.

That would be a dick with ears... ... . :D
