Had a new upper ball joint installed a while back. It doesn't have a rubber grease cup but it does have a grease nipple . But can't get any grease in it. Took the nipple off - its clear but no go when its on . Is this possibly a greaseless ball joint. I'm wondering if I need to jack up the truck to grease it?

When you try to pump grease into the joint with the fitting inplace and using a grease gun does the grease gun fitting lock onto the fitting when you try to pump the grease into the fitting? If it doesn't get hard to pump and the grease gun doesn't try to lock onto the fitting (i. e. its really tough to remove and you may need to pry it off with a bar) then you probably aren't getting pressure into the fitting. try changing the stock fitting to an aftermarket one. Also try not screwing the fitting in so tight. You might be pinching off the tube inside of it. Another idea is a fitting clearing tool. Usually a stainless steel tool about the size of a pen that you load with wd40 (or any other penetrating oil) and then push onto the grease fitting and strike with a hammer to drive the oil in and break up any clumps. I use it all hte time with dirt moving equipment to break up crap in the joint.
