Seperating water from diesel

So I know some similar topics have been started but maybe I can start a thread similar to Great Smoke Stories, though probably not with the success it has! I know there are similar threads but have since died out.

This is a thread to share your CTD stories you had with "other" brand people you see or meet, whether they're interesting, or BS, like mine is.

So, here is mine. I went to Home Depot yesterday to get a Rubbermaid shed for my girlfriend's mom. I park outside the gardening/landscaping area. Two older (60s) gentleman help. One of them, after we load the boxes into the truck, says, (ready for it, ready... ... ... . ) "So how much horsepower do these Cummings have now adays?"

I said, "The '06 has 325. " He shook his head "ok" and said, "thats about as much as my Ford, it has 365 horses. "

Now, having my attention, I said, "Really? What year is it?"

Him, "It's an '04. "

Me, thinking it's been chipped, "Oh, is it stock or been modded at all?"

Him, "Well, I could get a chip for it but I don't tow much so I just left it stock. "

Wow, 365 horse from a stock 6. 0, huh. I didn't say that, I just agreed with him the whole time!

Back when I had my 05 down at the local drags I was sitting in the staging lanes waiting for my turn when an older man (late 60's) came up to me and said "what size diesel is in there?" So I told him it had a 5. 9. He just chuckled and said "a 5. 9 huh? Then continued to sit there and smile at me. So then I had to ask him, "what do you have?" He said Ive got a 91 Chevy with a 6. 4 V8 Diesel in it, so its probably faster than yours because its a V8 and bigger" I just said "yeah probably... "

At my dad's work they have 1991 Dodge with a Cummins in it. One of the guys that worked for my dad had an old chevy blazer with a 6. 2 diesel in it. He kept braggin about how awesome it was and how it could easily out pull the Dodge. My Dad told him to get the chains and hook up. Needless to say he never brought the chains, although my dad was waiting. That would have been quite funny to see; its probably best he didn't bring them though, he most likely would've got embarrased.

When I was home on leave about a year and a half ago, I was at a party and this guy I knew from school was there with his new DuraMax lifted, intake, exhaust and what not. Well, he was asking who's Dodge was outside with the stacks and I said it was mine and he was buzzin pretty good and talking a lot of crap. I blew it off for about 20 minutes and had as much as I could take... We had a little game of tug of war and I drug his butt like 40 feet like nothing and all the suddin I heard a bang and everyone was stop, stop!!! Well I guess he didn't start in 4WD and tried to ingauge it and his whole front end was ruined. There was some fluid running out around the CV joints, not a lot but a little bit and a loud clicking noise from his diff. I flew home last time, so I didn't have my truck, but I saw him at the lake with a Ford explorer. I asked what happenend to his truck and he said all snooty, I just wanted something different!!! That's why all my friends told me he lost his butt when he had to have a whole new front end put in and couldn't afford the Dmax anymore, so he ended up with a Explorer...

I really get a kick out of some of the things these people come up with.

We got a drilling company on our jobsite doing some work, Keep in mind these are guys that are running mid size mobile drilling rigs all have fuel tanks on there diesel pickup trucks.

So last week one of the lead guys comes to work with a new Ford psd king cab short bed, was driving a 04 Dodge dually CTD w/6 speed. So I can't help but ask what he thought of it and he immediatly spits out "IT IS SO MUCH NICER THAN MY DODGE BECAUSE IT HAS THE NEW 6 SPEED ALLISON AUTO" while thinking to myself I need to have some fun with this, so I had to ask if it came with the factory exhaust brake that kicks in when you tap the brake pedal twice? He concures that yes it activates a little bit when he taps the brake once and fully activates when he hits it twice. At this point I had to walk away after telling him I hope he has good luck with it.

We don't want people like this driving dodges anyway right?

Friend of mine asked what kind of mileage my truck was delivering. I told him I could always count on 18 with an occasional 20-22. THAT'S IT!? He said. Yeah, that's it.

I love the ones who say they have the "6. 0 Cat engine" in their furd or the "6. 6 Detroit engine" in their chebbie. They REALLY know their vehicle don't they?? Makes ya wonder how they figure out how to crank it or put fuel in it!! A lot of the furd guys love to advertise their "Cat" engine around here with a tag on their front bumper!! Cat did have a crappy V-8 engine too, the 3208, but they had sense enough to drop it and concentrate on inline 6's!!

Good thead Nick.

My buddy who has a powerstroke with a Superchips program is always giving me crap about my truck. He says it sounds like a tractor-I say "thanks". Now he's saying my engine is a "cornbinder" engine. I say " I think you're thinking of International Harvesters-those are commonly referred to as cornbinders". He says "yeah, that's who makes the Cummins engine. " I just drop it because what's the point?

theres a silver 4 door 3rd gen cummins flatbed running around town with a cat plate

Guy at work here has a 7. 3L Excursion. I was talking about fuel mileage one day and he sticks his head in... " I got around 30mpg with mine pulling my trailer"... this is when he moved from AK down to ID. . so I'm sure he was loaded down.

I said something like yeah, maybe downhill... but nope, he claimed over the whole trip. Of course no one believed him.

I think the funniest things...

My neighbor across the street is 60 or so. Comes over one day and asks me why my truck is so loud. I told him it was straight piped. Then he asked why it rattled so much. Me:... "uh, it's a diesel"

Diesel..... hmmm ( with a they are so rare it's not really believable that my truck would be one expression on his face)... then... ... ... . "ah... yeah I used to have one of the them Ford 6. 9s... . good truck... hell I bet I could drag that Dodge of yours around the block. " I had to laugh :-laf

The other one, there's a guy painting my house, I pull in the drive and he actually asks me... "Is that thing a diesel"?? I went... diesel???!!!... Nope, it's got a Hemi :-laf

"heres your sign" :-laf
