To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Finally Got a Cummins! But What do I know?

Oh great another first timer here!!!

As a new member of TDR, I'm already getting valuable information from my membership! The info. available in this site, about calling Dodge (Daimler-Chrysler) to get the assembly information and the railroad car tracking links are great! The following is for a truck like mine that is being shipped from the Saltillo, Mexico assembly plant to the Western half of the USA via Union Pacific RR. I believe that the UPRR Trace link that I give below is a little different than the one listed on TDR.

The folks at the Daimler-Chrysler Customer Assistance Center (CAC) (800-992-1997) said they are happy to give you your progressive assembly status. I started with my first call to them with my 8 digit Vehicle Order Number (VON). CAC then gave me the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and some planned assembly and shipping dates. With the VIN, they only want the last 8 digits 3Gxxxxxx. They will confirm your name, then give you the Dodge Order Status Code & dates. Once it goes to a KZ code (released by the plant - invoiced to the dealer) the truck is put in the Plant Yard and waits being loaded on a rail car. About then, the CAC can give you your UPRR rail car number. I actually got mine a couple of days after going to a KZ code. Once you have an UPRR car number, the CAC does not have much more info. Although, in the end they will have a code of KZX code - delivered to the dealer.

With the UPRR rail car number go to their website at: http://c01.my.uprr.com/pet/ In the "Equipment ID" box on this page, type in the 10 character rail car number CAC gave you, then click on the "Trace" button. Each time you do this over the hours/days you will get a new location where the train has passed and the estimated arrival date and time of your vehicle's final rail destination. For me this is Benicia, CA. Here is the UPRR system map: http://www.uprr.com/aboutup/maps/sysmap/ I am also using my computer mapping program, to find the names of the small towns that the tracing results indicate that the train has passed. For what it’s worth, the Mexico Dodge Plant seems to be on schedule, as all of the planned dates that the CAC folks gave me, turned out to be the actual date my CTD passed that milestone. :p

My wife thinks I have lost it. However when asked why do this, I say, "because you can!" Besides, my new CTD "is coming home to papa!"

Oo.

Congratulations!

Be prepared to find that your cheeks hurt from grinning all of the time (mine do!). :D

Don't be surprised if it seems to take forever for it to get from the railhead to the dealer - DC's been holding them until the paint job's been checked.

If there's no delay, be thankful.

If there is a delay, be patient - these trucks are worth waiting for!

Right on all accounts! However, I am thinking that DC has worked this issue out by now, which may explain why (in my case) their scheduled dates are matching their actual dates! Moreover, wouldn't it be stupid (and costly) to keep pumping out bad paint jobs! That's just my view...

Don't worry, I have the patience thing down! In 1979, I waited 13. 5 weeks for my Ford (opps, I mean) Ferd Bronco due to a front axle shortage. Relatively speaking, I know the “Grin Factor “ is off the chart with the CTD! No worries, I will wait!
