I love this truck we got for the wife. It's a '95 2wd reg cab with the auto and 3. 54's and it has 119k on the clock. The only mods are:180hp injectors,boost elbow and stock plate slid full forward (it still has the stock air filter and stock exhaust w/cat).

Yesterday I filled up the tank and took a drive up to see Piers. When I got back into town,I went back to the same CFN station,same gas pump and refilled to the exact same spot in the filler neck as when I started. Drove a total of 260. 6 miles,40 mi of it was city driving,and only used 8. 9 gallons at fillup=29. 28mpg! Woo-hoo! I use no fuel additives.

Mike you have the best year made. My 4x4 w/ auto 2500 consistently gets 23-27 mpg. Pulling a heavy load with the 3500, worst mileage has been 12.

My brother-in-law has a '95 set up like yours, pulls the EXACT same trailer as mine, and gets GREAT fuel mileage... I can out pull him in the hills with my truck, but he passes ME at the pump... ;)

PLUS, the difference in style, ride and overall appearance of his later generation truck makes me wanna throw ROCKS at mine after I ride in his... :(

Hmmmm.....

-Mike did you end up switching trucks with Piers?

How in the hell did you keep your foot so light on the go pedal :p

The best I pulled was mid 20's. Here's the rest of the story: grossing just over 8k, winterized fuel (15% #1), mountains as in Montana I-90 between Missoula & Billings) and cruising between 75 & 80.

On the flip side,

Mike;

How's the mileage when you drive around with the converter unlocked? How's the mileage difference between you & Emily?

My mileage drops as the proverbial lead balloon with city (aka unlocked) driving. Can you spell D-T-T? I think the efficiency gain alone will justify one of those 90's something converters... . My wife has already agreed to the expense as preventative maintenance. She would much rather we are stalled in the driveway than on the highway of that same stretch of I-90... ... .

You added 180 hp injectors. I think those came on my 97 auto? John (at the shop in Enumclaw) asked if I had worked on the truck, as it has more than normal seat of the pants kick. It is as I bought it (ok, used). I'm saving the big grins for DTT, TST, and all letters that apply. I'd rather let my right foot govern the mileage, if you know what I mean...

Cheers;

John

Bob,

I rarely get to drive it,but when I do I drive it just like my truck... hold it at 72mph. No,we didn't trade trucks,but I will be 'cheating' when it comes time to do my auto transission upgrades.

JohnE,

Emily commutes 40+ miles a day going from here(airport area) to northgate. She gets 21-22 which is good for her because she's on and off the throttle pretty hard. Last month I was finally able to hit 21mpg in my truck,but I usually get about 19. 5.

Yeah,the 180 injectors gave it a nice kick in the butt... but not enough according to her! She wants another 100 ontop of that.

Ean gave her the injectors when we were at the Cummins gig. I think he was trying to schmooze her with his diesel charm! ;)

Hey Mike,

Ya should have driven back when I did. I'll bet we could have lowered that down some. -- I only got 21 for my trip.

-Fred.

Yeah Fred,I definitely woulda had an itchy right foot! Did you get caught up in that accident(?) traffic near Marysville? I sat idleing for almost an hour.

-Mike

Mike,

Bummer on the traffic. That sucks big time. For me traffic was 5-10 over the whole way. There was enough to hole down on the play room, unless you weave in and out real bad.
