I was restoring some painted cabinet doors that were peeling paint due to not de-glossing. Some areas of paint stripped off with an air gun leaving decades old islands of paint four coats thicker than other areas. I thought it was a stripper project for sure. While shopping for sandpaper,I noticed a sandpaper called ''sandblaster''by 3-M. I know this sounds like a lie,but this stuff out performed a belt sander. 60 grit worked on this application,as I sanded down to the original coat of enamel--just enough to get it flat. If you keep the pressure light,it is about clog-proof. I did 11 doors with 1. 5 sheets using a 1/4 sheet finish sander.
BTW the method of using a rubber tipped air hose to force air under peeling paint is really the best way to''scrape'' off paint that I have found.
