What makes a great trailer? I have a 2003 yellow (doesn't fade amd mottle like black in SC summer sun) 22 ft long 8. 5 wide McElrath (mcelrathtrailers.com) 16K gooseneck that is open sheltered. All the wiring is enclosed, the ramps longer and heavier (at my request), side turn signals, 950x16. 5 tires (lower profile than 16s) to keep deck height to a minimum so I only need a 3 foot dovetail, chrome hubcaps aren't rusted, mud flaps, American steel (which I think holds paint better) (Look at and feel the 'cross the pond steel. It's different. Looking at 5 year-old trailers might eliminate some brands. I have big electric over hydraulic brakes because I'm VERY fond of being able to stop quickly. Get a trailer a little bigger/heavier in case you get growing pains. I would change less than a quarter's worth on my trailer. It pulls so sweet. Also available is a metal 5 ft dovetail with a good way to raise/lower. Check out the site: you might see something that will help you make a good decision. Get led lights. Since grounds seem to give so much trouble, I like to run the ground wire all the way to the lights and not ground to the trailer. Is that standard now? Hope you find the perfect trailer! All this woofin' has reminded me that I need to paint the wheels. Then it will be ready for the Governor's inspection!! Mark
