06 dodge with wicked turbo?

'02 & '97 Powerstroke "hiss" on cold start

anyone out there have a green tint to their oil? I have a 97 5speed and this started a year ago. Oil ananlysis showed normal. Could it be winter fuel treatment dye? This started right after first winter fuel up.

Have you had it in a shop for repairs? The oil dye used for finding leaks with a black light may turn it a bit green. Also when a new or Recon engine comes from the factory the oil has a green tint to it, I allways assumed it was tracer dye.

have not had it in the shop. I change my own oil ,delo 400. truck has 35000 miles on it.

the 40w oil we use at work in our locomotives has a slight blue tint to the oil and our fuel is blue tinted when we fill it at our home shop, but we get some red fuel when it has been fueled at outposts. . [the blue is high sulfer fuel, the red is off road fuel and has a much lower sulfer content]

Agree with Bmoeller, Rotella in mine turns black. Only oil I ever knew of that had a green tint before or after use, was Kendall. For a long time, there base stock came from the area of the Appalachian Mountains. I ran Kendall in all my street rods and offshore boats and NEVER had a oil related breakdown. Mercury Marine for the longest time recomended Kendall GT-40 straight 40w oil in ALL their motors. From the smallest 4 cyl. up to their 572 ci, 1000 H. P. race motors.

Now Kendall is owned by someone else and does not use the same base stock. Their oil is simply brown now... ... ... ...

Rotella may turn green. Had oil sample sent into a lab a few years ago. We asked them why the oil was green. The lab replied that its common for Rotella to turn green. Its a very dark green almost black. In the sun light it shows.

Its possible that since then the additive package in the oil may have chaged some. Last couple oil changes I have done. Did not show the greenish color. I also don't get that stink after the oil change either.
