I have noticed in the last week or so since I had disconnected the batteries to reset the throttle position sensor, "I disconnected the negative sides of the batteries if it matters". I noticed that the stock amp gauge shows a discharge for about 3-5 minutes maybe more when you first start the truck. I did make sure the connections were good and took apart and rechecked. After about 3-5 minutes it shows that it is charging allot. I know the grid heater use to cycle and I could see it in the gauge discharge - charge when cycling. I don't see that any more. I noticed even after running it for 20 minute shutting it off for about 10 minutes it does the same thing. Is it normal for the grid heater not to cycle and stay on do to the colder weather and cycle in the warmer weather? What are you guys seeing with yours? I am in eastern pa 15 degrees at night 30 during the day. Thanks in advance for your input; your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Mine has did this from new... I think it is a programming thing to keep people from bringing the truck in for a jumping volt gauge... The gauge acts differently than it did in the 1999 I had...

I will add that the heaters still cycle, but the gauge doesn't reflect that...

Ohh, and after 100k, it hasn't affected anything...

I forgot and left the AC on and blower on high. It is cold enough here to cycle the grid heater in the early AM and need the AC in the afternoon. Anyway this morning the truck would not crank until I turned off the AC and blower. Maybe time to check the batteries. They are only one year old though. Started right up with the AC off.
