The batteries on my brother's '01 went dead. When he put a battery charger on it the charger was showing way more draw than with just dead battery. He noticed that the relay/solenoid? for the grid heater had a melted the cover to get at one of nuts to disconnect a wire. He then disconnected the grid heater from the battery. Has anyone had this trouble?

The relays can stick on. This happened on my cousin's '97 and drained the batteries and melted the rubber boots at the grid heater connections. If the relay is melted it sounds like a sure bet it stuck on. Should be as simple as replacing it.

Had the same issue with the relay sticking, replaced and no more problems. $63. US at dealer and they actually had one in stock.

I had a scan of my codes when I put my new turbo on and there was a code for one of the Relays that was "Bad" I don't know if this means it might stick on but does anyone know which relay is the #2 relay? The front or rear relay?

The forward relay is #2.

The wire from the ECM to the coil on heater relay #1 is yellow/black tracer.
The wire from the ECM to the coil on heater relay #2 is orange/black tracer.
