Has anyone installed the aftermarket grid heater manufactured by Black Market Performance? If so, you experience would be appreciated, including comments about the installation.

Looks like a nice alternative for the grid heater. I had found the spiral bolt heater and was trying to see where it could be put in. It's got 1.5 x 22mm thread. This might be the best choice. Awaiting further input also.

Yes, I have. I have following the grid heater options on this and other forums. I feel this is the better option and would like to find comments about the product.

That looks like a good option if everything fits correctly. I put the Banks on mine and don't like that the OEM bat wing is removed, and the EGR tube is left without a center support. It is 50 state legal.

Who want's to pull the trigger on this one and report back? I do like the cleaner option and like @sag2 mentions, not having to remove a support!
@sag2, has the new heater option caused any dash lights or codes? Think that might be a big consideration on the change out. TIA for reply.

Although it only has run a few times since the install here at home, it did operate several times per day on our Boise trip. No problems at all.

I like this option over the Banks, but nothing is going on my truck until the max care warranty expires. Maybe by then Ram will have recalled the current heater.

I’d like to see GDP offer something.

I’d really like to use that element as its on my list along with the other components for the retrofit. I can’t justify $300 for that collar though. I’m toying with drilling, tapping and sleeving the factory elbow for the element. Whaddya think?

I just ordered one. Kinda pricey for what you get, but like car insurance, worth the peace of mind. Will be ordering the Jeg's intake manifold plate also. Can't put a price on knowledge. Thanks TDR members.

I ordered the Black Market Performance aftermarket grid heater for my 2014 Ram 3500 and 2017 Ram 2500.
Installed the grid heater on the 2017 yesterday.
I would offer the following suggestions, first the grid heater as purchased comes with socket head cap screws, for me these screws were difficult to install, therefore before doing the 2013, I will order hex head flange screws. I found them on belmetric.com. Required size is M6-1 x 80 mm long.
Second, I removed the air intake elbow from the intake manifold. This provided addition space to allow alignment of all five parts.
I live in southwest New Mexico, therefore as of today the grid heater is not required to start the truck. I will report on the operation next spring.

Thank you for the upgrade tips. Did you leave the stock grid heater plate in place, or did you replace the top part of the manifold? Just curious, as the stock plate in place with the grid heater disabled should not pose a threat of damage as long as the electrical stud is tight and undamaged.

I did not replace the stock grid heater plate. I was not ready to deal with the fuel system at this time, probably the next time I need to dig deeper, like replacing the crank case filter or adjusting the valve lash, the stock grid plate will be replaced.

I might leave the stock plate in place. My 2014 has 73k miles and the electrical stud is tight. I’m not looking for more power or performance, just hoping to prevent engine damage.

I’m jumping on this thread. I have a P2609 code and am considering the update for the heater and manifold plate as part of the resolution to the code. Just wanted to know if you had gotten and installed the manifold plate yet? Also, has the heater probe continued to meet your expectations.

Although it has not been cold enough to really require the grid heater to start the truck. I did test the circuit for voltage at the heater, all is functioning properly.
I have not yet purchased the manifold plate.
For me the hex head flange bolts are easier to install than the socket head cap screws furnished with the kit. And taking the air intake elbow loose made the job easier.
