My brother in laws 02 RAM grid heaters stopped working. After a little investigation we discovered they're physically broke. Anyone ever had this? You can grab the (2) electrical posts that the wires from the relay terminate & pull the posts 1\4" up & back down.....

$Dealership wants $185- for parts only, and states this is a 3\36 item & not under the Cummins warranty. Hmmmm..... Anyone found another source? Calling Cummins NW this AM.

99guy, That topic on the grid heaters refers to the solenoids.

states this is a 3\36 item & not under the Cummins warranty.

Clay, Ya but it's covered under the emissions warranty. I don't think the EPA would put up with that dealer BS.

ooops, I think I misread Clay's post, thought he was referring to the relay terminal but I think your right. Just wondering though, can something go wrong (break) with a grid and find it's way into the head?

What broke was where the wires from the relay attach to the grid heaters. From the sound I was hearing by wiggling the wires, it sounded like the wires connect to some type of ceramic item (rough raspy sounding) as the attachment bolt just started turning.

Ken ordered a new grid heater today at "Mopar For Less" for $130-... Should have it by the weeks end.
