I'm still wanting a grill guard for my '03. Not interested in the heavy duty ones that replace the stock bumper, but still would like a decent quality one.

One thing though, in order to change the headlight bulbs should a light burn out, do I need a 3-piece grill guard? Or can you somehow change the headlight without having to take off the grill guard?

Also, my eyes are not what they used to be, especially when driving at night. I've never used "driving lights" but just the name makes me think maybe I should install a set. If I do, should I get the PIAA ones that replace the fog lights or should I get a model that mounts on my new grill guard, whatever make and model of guard I wind up with?

I was quoted a price of $560 (installed) for PIAA lights that replace the fog lights. Sound about right?

Any ideas on these two things?

Thanx,

Glenn

Not sure on the piaa's and price. I have a grill guard with 4 KC's on it, 2 long range, 2 driving. Nice and bright. I don't have the "wings" that cover the headlights, just the center section, I didn't like the way it looked so I took them off. I would say you'd have to see how much room there is beween the lights and the guard if you use the light guards, it probably varies from brand to brand.

I would personally not spend the money on the piaa's for replacement. I'd just get the driving/fog light conversion kit from Geno's that replaces the bulbs with the brighter bulbs. I did and love it, so did 3 other people after they saw them. Makes a huge difference. Also looks completely stock and legal. For illegal(on road), there's always the 4 KC's!
It's dark out but this will give you an idea of what it looks like:

My used 05 Ram came with the "Sportsman" Grill Guard installed, but no lights, however it does have little black brackets for them. I got the matching tailight guards on E-Bay relatively cheaply. A lot nicer than the paste on ones. See my Signature pic or attached pic:

check out a website called 'Popularlink.com',, they have a nice stainless steel 3 piece grill which they ship very quickly and is easy to install,, I would post a pic , but never had any luck trying to do that,, never seems to work for me,, the grill is very reasonably priced also ,,,,,

This the Luverne SS Push Bar/Grill Guard.

Just checked out the popularlink.com site, nice looking grills at a good price. Might have to order one of those. Thanks

Remember a couple things about all those grill guards shown 1. they will likely add to the repair expense if you hit anything ,2 they will make it harder to work on the rig. Try doing a valve adjust while laying over that extra obstacle.

I don't know about the others , but the one I got from Popular Link is 3 piece and any part of it or whole thing can be removed in just a few minutes with a few bolts and simple tools,, Here in Va. I have to remove the outer sections once a year for state vehicle inspections (can't obstruct headlights, lol ) but it mounts very simply,, the only downfall, which wasn't a great deal,, is having to remove the factory towhooks,it mounts on those points,,, I have figured out a way yet to have both . I am not needing pulled out ,or pulling anyone lately ,so no big deal.
