I'm having to replace my grille and ended up buying an after market grille that has no emblem. I ended up with a stainless emblem that got off ebay and was wondering how to glue it on. JB Weld is a consideration but thought I would ask some of y'all before I attempt it.

Swing by a friendly Big Rig body shop with your Dodge Ram emblem in hand and see if they will give you a squirt of 3M 5 minute epoxy.

Don't stand around and talk after they put it on the emblem, head for your truck. 5 minutes means 5 minutes. . :D

It is what holds modern fibreglass truck hoods together and it just rocks.

We go thru a ton of it, and have found many other uses for it as well.

I got one for my 96 at the local Dodge dealer and glued it on with silicone. Seems to be working fine. The dealer had the emblems in stock. I think it was about $20. 00.

The 3M epoxy has a heat release feature, that is how you get a 3 piece hood apart for repair. A normal heat gun will release it.

The stuff is amazing.

I will ask the body shop what the release temp is at lunch.

I still only use industrial JB Weld for strenght OR a 5 minute epoxy for light quick fixes around the house... never heard of a heat relese till you said it... . gonna have to get me some for projects... . sure does sound useful!!!:-laf

If you don't mind, finding out the 3M product #, as well as the release temp... ???

My apologies Seafish, I did go out to the bodyshop but got sidetracked before I got the release temperature.

But by going out there I caught something before it became an issue so that worked out just great... . :-laf

I will attempt it again Monday, I think it is 280 degrees but let me make sure.

I know that the 3M part numbers are as follows. .

08270 1 Minute Epoxy

08271 3 Minute Epoxy

08272 30 Minute Epoxy

It is dispensed from dual caulking size tubes and mixes as it travels out the nozzle. There is a hand gun and an air powered gun that they use.

I don't know if it is available in a smaller size system or not. The stuff is fantastic and we use it for all kinds of employee repairs such as kid's toys, canoes, ice shacks, you name it.

We even got the radiator in the 644 loader that we plow snow with thru the winter with a gob of 3M on the lower tubes. :D

I will get more info Monday for you.
