jrandol and I are setting up a group buy on Snow Performance water/methanol injection boost cooler. Matt with Snow Performance has offered 25% off his listed web price on his boost cooler kits and related accessories only.

For the most part, we CTD owners are going to require the stage 2 kit, and what ever size injector(s) we may need for our individual HP levels.

We need 10 interested parties to sign up with jrandol or myself to get the price. I am not sure of what time frame we are dealing with here, but I would like to get it rolling as soon as we have the 10 or more buyers. I know this is not a good time of year to be doing this, what with the holidays and all but hopefully we can get this put together before the end of the year. Once we get the initial 10, we may keep accepting names for another 7 days, then turn that info over to Matt to finalize the deal.

I will answer any questions that you have, and if I can't, I'll find someone who can.

Hey Sticks, are you trying to get yourself in trouble again? lol

Any way I am interested in finding out more and possibly joining in on the buy. Keep me informed. From my experiences: water, heat and iron make rust and buildup so I am still a little sceptical about this. Need more education.

Sticks Bro, it's Matt Snow... . wonder if you'll get kicked off here! You have a good idea on this and Here is your hat install pic again.

I was not going to say anything, but I see we have a healthy grape vine.

I was trying to set up a joint group buy between the DTR and the TDR. My DTR thread got snuffed because I "violated the rules", and I am not so sure that I won't get 86'd from that site for protesting. I have not received a specific reason that it got closed, but the circumstances are a little suspect.

Anyhow...

If you think about it, our turbos are compressors, and every compressor generates moisture when it compasses the air. I would love to put a pet cock on an intercooler in Florida or Louisiana and open it up after a few hard runs.

From what I understand, Matt's injectors do an excellent job of atomizing the water so it's not like we are pumping liquid into the heads. Basically all we are doing is making the air a little (OK a lot) more humid.

Also this is not something that we would be running (READ - injecting water/meth into the engine) full time. For the performance freaks:D this would be 14 seconds or less at a time. For daily drivers and towing, I would hope it would still be just brief runs to keep the EGT's down for uphill climb or chasing down the cute blonde in the vette.

Jim, I hate to drag you into this, but you are the authority on how well it works, and the effects it has on the engine. Jeff Randol noticed rust in his head on his last injector change, and this is Colorado driving and no water injection (yet). I doubt that we are going to develop the big flaky rust that you get on the fenders of old cars, or other iron products subjected to the elements. There is an awful lot of air moving through the head, so if anything we will just be introducing microscopic dust in limited quantities. If I had to guess, those in dry climates will have the effects of driving in a humid climate. And those of you in the humid climate, well, who knows. We get carbon flakes in the cylinders that occasionally let go and no apparent harm there.

Performance enhancements do harm our engines. If it's injectors, a box, turbo, or boost cooling. It is just a different type of harm, and I don't know that it is any worse than anything else we are doing.

I am not an authority on the effects of the BOMBs that we do to our beloved CTD's. I just pass on what I have read, and what experience and common sense tells me. I am in on this party for high altitude EGT cooling when towing and just plain having fun in the mountains. That, and you cant beat the price for up to 100hp.

Jim if I left out anything, or have it wrong, please correct me. I do not want to misslead anyone.

Sticks

PS, brain f@rt on the Mark thingy, I got it fixed, thanks.

Sticks,

Please write my name down for one. I think this is an exciting product that has a great deal of potential for our trucks. Keep us posted. Thanks.

Jeff Randol noticed rust in his head on his last injector change

Were was the rust? if he says it's inside the cylinders with the head off then it's an issue, if it's in the head on the intake side then it's an issue, other than that Run it. I've had my head off (old head) after I ran it for a while and never saw any rust..... dry it out after you run it, don't run it then shut the motor off.

Jim

Preliminary results on my truck are around 80-90hp gain.

I picked up about 5-6mph in the 1/4, 96+ to 102+.

Thats with 50/50 Meth and water.

Hey Jim, the rust I noted was in the intake right by the air horn. Not a lot of it, but there was some present. As a matter of fact, mgoncalves noted the same the same time, we were installing our injectors then. Do you think this is an issue?

Sticks, thanks for getting this all squared away. I AM IN!!!!! Oo. Oo. Oo.

OK, that's 3 1/2 (Mike L). We need 6 more and someone to kick Mike over the edge (a little help here Jim and/or Jeff) and we are set.

BTW -

It was an unwritten rule that the thread got closed on the DTR.

Hey guys. This is my fault really, there is nothing in the rules that says groups buys aren't allowed, but we've always disallowed them at the site. I'm sorry about that. I'll make sure that gets in the rules right away. In all honesty, you did nothing wrong on this one, but I would ask that folks not post group buys here.

I'll also add that the Admins had kind of,,, just briefly,,, maybe,,, talked about this subject once or twice in the past, but never really formerly addressed it to much degree. However, I think we had decided that it wasn't a good idea for a couple of reasons. Please keep in mind that this is how I remembered some of the one or two discussions from quite a long time ago and I still agree with the reasoning now.

I believe that I brought up the fact that some of us have witnessed "Group Buys" on other sites go bad due to one reason or another resulting in really nasty arguments being posted in the public forums. Dissatisfied buyers somehow blaming the website where the "Group Buy" was posted because they thought it was endorsed by that site.

Plus we feel the need to be fair to the vendors that pay to advertise on our site. I don't feel it would be right to make "Joe's Barn Doors" pay to advertise with us and then have a member advertise in the forums (for FREE) that he can get "Barn Doors" for half of what Joe is asking, if he can get 10 guys to buy 10 doors at one time.

Fair enough, it's their site. I'm not saying that I agree with it, but it's their call.

3 1/2 eh? Were you able to salvage any of the people over on the DTR that expressed interest before the nazi's shut it down?

Mike: You are getting very sleepy, your keys are falling out of your hands and you are going to let Jeff drive your truck again. You want Water Methanol Injection..... yes Water Methanol. And when you awake from this session everytime you hear a rice burner go by you you will make a smoke bomb so big it engulfs the unsuspecting ricer. Awake!!

Do you think that will work Sticks? :D

ROTFLAMO:-laf :-laf :-laf

Nothing salvaged from the DTR as of yet, and the way they have their site set up, I could not go back into my computers hidden files and pull anything up (screenshots of the thead with member names). Every other site that I have been to I could, but not theirs.

Ok, I'm very interested especially if the discount was what was stated on the other web site. That setup and some ghost flames is maybe what the truck needs for a little sprucing up.

Mike L.

I have talked with Matt several times and the consensus seems to be that even a mildly modified truck needs his stage 2 kit, try the link for this setup:

http://www.snowperformance.net/proddetail.asp?prod=Auto002

Then also we all need a check valve (recommended for applications running over 15psi.

http://www.snowperformance.net/proddetail.asp?prod=auto004

Also us folks more than about 400 hp Matt said he recommends the dual injectors setup which is:

http://www.snowperformance.net/proddetail.asp?prod=auto005

Bottom line is each of us may have slightly different configurations needed for our trucks. Mine will go to the upper extremes due to where my HP is and where I want to take it. After talking with Matt I dont think even if I was near stock I would do the Stage 1 kit for the CTD application, probably works wonders on gas motors though. The components listed out here is what I plan to start out with if we get this group buy completed.

Total dollars for this setup before G. P. Discount would be: $458. 90

After the 25% Group Purchase Discount it would be: $344. 18

Thats roughly $3. 44 per HP!!! I still havent fiquired out another way to get that much gain for less
